Sunday thoughts

Today the theme of our sacrament meeting was Come Unto Christ.

Here are the thoughts that jumped out at me:

We don't have to fit any sort of mold in order for Christ to mold us. He can work with us right where we stand, right now.

He embraces us with all of our imperfections, griefs, and mistakes.

Coming unto Christ is not an event, it's a long journey, a journey of perhaps a million steps. Every day we can take small steps that bring us closer to him.

Doctrine & Covenants 93:1:

Verily, thus saith the Lord: It shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am.

Such a hope-filled doctrine.

Our Ward Conference theme last week was "I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus" and this reminds me of it.

Our Bishop told us to get to know Christ by studying His life as written in the four gospels and the Book of Mormon. He said it should be a lifetime pursuit, but that how can we say we follow someone we do not know?

I take comfort in it being a lifetime pursuit and feel good about the little bit I do each day to grow closer to Him.

Why can't everyone look at it that way..."such a hope filled doctrine". I love that was of looking at it. Pass the word.

I love this aspect of the gospel: we can start coming unto Christ wherever we are. He'll accept us as we are and then proceed to make us better. It really is so hope-filled.

This really makes salvation sound doable!

I spent so much of my youth feeling like there was one mold that Christ preferred to work with. It's a destructive thought. How amazing is it that quite the opposite is true?
