spt -- love, me

This week's challenge was: what will you do for yourself this Valentine's Day?

I decided to give affirmations another try. In the past, I have shunned them, because my negative self-talk is so deeply entrenched, my brain immediately rejects them. But, in my efforts to free myself of negative thoughts, I'm giving it another go. Maybe if I persist, I will be able to get around my first reaction and train my brain to go in a more positive direction. A girl can hope, right?

and just because I love them so, I bought myself a bag of holiday m&ms and gave them a hug, Eva-style.

Your SPT went much more along the lines of how I thought of mine, Michelle...

Your Eva-style hug is cute, cute, cute! :)

P.S. I still need to go get me some of that Revlon lip liner! Looks great.

GOOD FOR YOU!
You are wonderful~ I can think of 5great things about you right off the top of my head...
1. You are a true friend
2. You are creative
3. You are generous
4. You are beautiful
5. You are a terrific mom!!
Way to give yourself something REALLY GOOD - we all need to do that from time to time- I know I do.

I actually did this on Monday after someone in my Relief Society said it works. I looked in the mirror and said, "I will do it" five times in a row. I did have a productive day. But, I'm pretty sure all that self-affirmation takes more than one day.

The m&ms are a nice touch:)

That's a fabulous gift to give yourself! Don't give up! Weaknesses CAN become STREGNTHS! But enjoy those M&Ms - gotta love M&Ms!!!

I am a huge fan of affirmations- I hope they are for you what you want them to be and help you become the person you know you have inside!

The M&M's are a nice bonus :)

These are very cute pictures of you, I think you're mighty photogenic and seem to be figuring out the short-armed self-portrait, ha.

I think your affirmations are great. I hope you'll really do them because you tend to tell your brain a lot of negative things and that just makes me sad.

What the hell? You look SO great in those pics- No that I am surprised. I am not suprised. It's just good to see you looking so beautiful and happy, and I think affirmations are great and powerful. Just think of it as cognitive therapy instead of Stuart Smalley-esue. love you.

I like your affirmations. Your big blue one, "I can do hard things" reminded me of a talk by the general yw prez, Susan Tanner when she came to Calgary. She said that her motto when she started that calling was "I can do hard things" but then she read Alma 26:12 and changed her motto to "I can do all things". It was powerful.
Your pictures are especially beautiful today. I might have to start hugging my M&M's Eva style.

I should start doing those too. I was having a hard time last night and my husband wouldn't let me out of his bear hug until I said one thing that I liked about myself. I couldn't honestly think of anything. After he prodded and asked me what I did that evening for our family I said I cooked dinner. He said and??? I said "I'm a good cook." He agreed whole heartedly and kept hugging me a while longer. Thank you for posting this.
