Christmas Eve in pictures

Eva really wanted to make gingerbread cookies. We discovered that she is a whiz with a pastry bag!

Lucas showing Eva that Guitar Hero is harder than it looks.

Max played for a couple of hours at a local rest home.

Between gingerbread cookies, treats for the neighbors, and our Christmas Eve dinner, I was in the kitchen all day!

My mixer got quite a workout.

Eva came back for more decorating.

Max made shrimp risotto for dinner.

I made eggplant parmesan, surprisingly for the first time!

and artisan bread x2

We read the Christmas story from the scriptures and did our gifts to the Savior. I was surprised to find when I opened up my little red box that we have now been doing this for 6 years! One of the best things I have ever done, it has really changed my life for the better.

When all the dishes were done and the kids had finally gone to bed, I got to play Santa.

I really love that my mom sends things for my stocking. Stockings are my favorite!

Eva considered writing Santa a note and telling him that we had plenty and he didn't need to stop by our house this year. Seriously.

I went to bed at midnight! I consider that a victory on Christmas Eve. I love going to bed on Christmas Eve, knowing that the children will wake to happy surprises.

This is such a fun post!
The food-- wow the food!!!

I am truly impressed with Eva's piping skills-- she must come by that naturally.
AND Max playing on Christmas Eve - what an amazing boy.

YES- what a gift to get a box of stocking stuffers from your mom!!! Please a post on that alone would be fun

Wow, you spend more time in the kitchen than anyone I know! I wish I liked to do that more...I've been toying with the idea for one of my New Year's Resolutions.

I wish your mom sent me stocking stuff too!!!

Serious presents under your tree, WOW!

I love the color of your Kitchenaid. I just treated myself to the aqua one (ice?)last month.

I love that Max enjoys to be in the kitchen and think you are a fun mom to take on the cookie decorating on Christmas Eve. We bake a birthday cake for Jesus every year but this year I used a box mix (whole wheat gingerbread cake mix this time). I was short on time but at least the tradition continued.

That is so nice that your mom still send stocking stuffers.
I need to get your recipe for the shrimp rissoto. It sounds so good with your artisan bread.
