Sunday thoughts

Today is my mother's birthday.

When I think of the things my mother taught me, chief among them is to listen to the guidance of the Spirit.

She would frequently tell me specific instances when she was so glad she had followed his direction, and occasionally her disappointment that resulted from not responding to promptings.

One example: "Rats! I knew I should have bought butter when the Spirit told me to!"

I remember feeling a bit skeptical about such mundane direction, but later on I realized that she had instilled in me the conviction that Heavenly Father loves us individually and cares about even the smallest details of our lives.

Plus, she would pray with me over things like cheerleading tryouts. When she would take things like that to the Lord, I realized that I could ask for his help with absolutely anything and he would bless and direct me.

I am so blessed to have born of goodly parents.

I love you, Mom.

My day has ended much more complete than it was playing out...

One year ago was the last time I spoke with my own darling mother. She was my teacher about the Spirit.

Thanks. I love you.

You certainly have a family filled with strong female role models. That picture is too precious. I love that you were caught mid laugh.
