spt -- give me a break!

When I saw this week's challenge (to document one way in which we treat ourselves or just need a breather), my plan was to go get a pedicure and document that much-needed pampering (see last week's spt).

That didn't pan out. Yet.

Then I realized that reading is my go-to break, every day.

I can't seem to go to sleep at night unless I've done some reading, even if it's just a few pages sometimes. Flopping on my bed during the day with a book – even if it's just for 15 minutes – brings me back to calm when it seems everyone is hell-bent on stealing it.

And when I have a really good book, I'm not above taking it into the bathroom with me. (I tend to not get disturbed as often when I'm in there.) A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

That's too funny that our pictures are almost identical! Your room is much more stylish than mine of course, but our breathers are the same.

I read in the bathroom all the time. And reading is one of my most loved ways of taking a break.

I love knowing you have to escape to the bathroom to read....there may be teasing.

I hope your pedicure comes to fruition - it's a great and fairly reasonably priced way to pamper yourself.

I wish reading was as natural for me as it is for you (and Jill). I love it when I'm doing it but I just don't think to do it as often as I should.

A good book is a wonderful way to escape the chaos around me...even a not so good book is fine too!

I'm like you, I love a good book in the wings.

I've always really loved the phrase "hell-bent."

I have only done one day of yard work and I am over it. I can't believe I have to mow to the law for the next 5 months. I am so ready for jasons school to be done so he can take that back over.

Reading is such a great thing to do, I really need to do it more. I really hope you get your pedicure! Your really deserve it.

I'm reading that book on my Kindle now, thanks to Jill's recommendation.

Ha! I'm not above "red-flagging" a book, either. (George Costanza term)

What are you reading? I'm reading "Salt." Pretty good.

I need some more pillows before I can comfortably read in bed.

The only place I can take a breather at work is in the bathroom. It's pitiful, but I've stayed in there for 15 minutes before just to have some rejuvenation time.
