During the viewing before my grandmother's funeral, a woman came up to where my parents and I were standing. She said she had been looking for my dad for years and years so that she could return some old photos. He didn't recognize her at first, but it turned out that she was an old college girlfriend, from his freshman year at BYU. (We're still not sure how she found him at the funeral.)
These photos are a real treasure to me, as I had never seen pictures of him at these ages (only as a young child and then after he married my mom). Thank you, Judy, wherever you are.
After a hunt (ew). (Incidentally, the only time I can ever remember feeling disappointment in my dad was the time I discovered that he owned guns.)
I feel like I could study these for hours.

Oh, that one heading to the plane is just priceless...the faith, the anxiety, the unknown, scriptures in hand, the waiting plane with an open door...I am nearly undone.
Yesterday we waved goodbye to my youngest brother headed to Des Moines for his mission. You have impeccable timing.
I really like the picture of him sitting in the airport waiting to leave on his mission. And, those mission cards are cool. One of my brothers had them.
Supermodel Dad! Great pics.
This is so cool! These pictures are great reminders of your heritage and great keepsakes. I love looking at photos of my dad when he was my age; it just provides a different and new connection to him.
How special to have these! Maybe Judy found out about the funeral through the obituary?
That was so thoughtful of Judy to seek him out and give these to him.
After going through so many of my parents' old photos I have really felt the value of them and have wanted to give some of the ones of their siblings and old friends back to their families in case they don't have them.
Wow, these are priceless. I wonder if she heard of the funeral and came just to give him the photos?
What a wonderful gift from Judy...and the mission card, oh WOW!!!!!
Woo hoo for sleep!
Your Dad was quite the looker! What a treasure!
I love seeing these too! Dad is still handsome. I can remember this is how he looked when I met him!
He still keeps in shape and maybe these photos will inspire him to make this a life-long committment!
Thanks for the cute post.
Oh my goodness what treasures! And your new blog header...am smitten.
How handsome! What a treasure to have those pictures!
FIrst, ha. about Eva sleeping through the night since she will be 5 next month.
Second- Dad is STILL a looker, but wow! Those are awesome- Did you get to keep them?? Or did you just scan them? Either way, I'm jealous and I want copies. I too have never seen pictures of dad at this age- only a few ever, actually!
Is it bad that when I saw your missionary photo of your Dad - that I burst into tears? My boy just left on Tues this week!
Fun that you were able to see this side of your Dad.
I feel for you as my littles didn't sleep through the night until they were two - this has apparently been a long ride for you!! WOW!
All I can say is, way to go Susan! She sure caught herself a looker!
If this isn't just the best, Michelle. I just love it. It makes a great mini-book all by itself.
Rebekah's comment made me smile.
You being disappointed at your dad owning a gun also made me smile. Did it make him seem criminal-esque?
