My memories of Y2K seem so fresh -- can that really have been 10 years ago? It was so strange to realize that my boys were too young to remember that (Lucas was an infant and Max was only 4!). I briefly explained what all the hullabaloo was like at the end of 1999, but they didn't get it. Max just said, "but why would anyone think that would be a problem?" I don't know, but they sure did. I never felt terribly worried about it, though.
Remember how weird it was when we first started writing dates that started with a zero? 00 -- I had the hardest time getting used to that. Do you write the wrong year for a week or two?
Anyway, here are some of the major events in our family during the last decade:
* It encompassed all but 4 1/2 months of Lucas's life.

* Jessie got married.

* I had a difficult last pregnancy, including being hospitalized for kidney stones.
* Eva was born and changed our family forever.
* Jessie had two more sweet girls.
* Marc's museum exhibit -- only 6 years in the making!
* I started blogging.
* I got my first digital camera.
* Marc got tenure at BYU.

* We lived in Paris three times (2002, 2007, 2009).
* We had some great family vacations -- Charleston, the Oregon coast, California, St. George, Denver, Vail, London.
* Marc and I went to New Orleans and to San Francisco by ourselves.

* Marc started attending the Sundance Film Festival.
* Lucas discovered he was a reader -- hallelujah!
* We got new carpet.
* We replaced many, many appliances.
* We had a mouse infestation.

* I had two knee surgeries, Lucas had two sets of tubes put in his ears, Eva and Lucas had dental surgery.
* Max and Lucas were baptized.
* We had a major flood, which necessitated a week's hotel stay and basement remodeling.

* Max was ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood.
* Max became a Scout, went fishing, and discovered that fish is his favorite food. His eating has become ever more adventurous since!

* I learned some fundamental Photoshop skills and started creating email ads for my mom's store.
* I learned to knit.
* I became a bread baker.
* I read a lot of books.
* We were the recipients of countless acts of service.
I can't wait to see what the next decade brings!

Great, great post! I don't think I could try to capture the highlights from the last 10 years because surely I'd forget too much.
It's rather amazing to think about all these things and to know about or have been involved in so many of them, what a blessing for me.
You really must teach me the art of break making this year, pretty please!
I LOVE your header! Maybe I can bribe you to make me one. Yours is so Moulin Rouge!
Oh, oh, oh this post is fun to see and read. I love the photos--Eva's skewed face, the lockers, all of it.
Great post. Can I copy? I mean, May I copy?
That picture of Eva! I could just die. I love this post! I've only known you for a short time so it is nice to learn a little about your past. In 2000 I...um...graduated from high school. That seems strange.
Great recap! I too remember Y2K well and all of the drama that came with it. I can't believe that was 10 years ago.
I just got your Christmas/New Year's Card, and seriously, I think you deserve the "cutest card ever" award! I love it so much!!
I don't think I can wrap my brain around all of the things that have happened in these past 10 years...
This is a great recap, Michelle...
I love all of the pictures that go along with it...
Oh my goodness--that little baby photo is so TOTALLY Eva! It made me laugh so hard!!! Thanks for the gut-laugh! :D
I love the Eva photo! How fun to recap the decade...great idea!
I could instantly tell that was Eva. What a cutie!
I am still trying to grasp all that happened in 2009, let alone the past decade!
I remember all the hullabaloo with Y2K. It was crazy.
That was the year Posey was born...and so it began for us.
What a great way to remember a decade.
Eva's photo was just too perfect. I laughed out loud.
The past 10 years...yow. Do I want to remember some parts of them?
That picture of Timm and Lucas made my heart ache...man I miss them.
I have been thinking a ton about the last 10 years. It's so crazy, I don't feel this old at all :)
wow....this is wonderful Michelle to be able to capture years on with memories. I think blogging has actually materialize them for me in a way, to see text and image it is almost like a documentary for TV. so fun. I love love loved your narrative too!
