Eva update

Awhile ago, I said that Eva and I were going through a rough patch. I'm happy to report that we made it through that phase. Oh, she is still just as determined, persistent, opinionated, and emotional as ever -- and I suspect she ever will be. Truth be told, I don't really want to squash any of those characteristics. I just want us to be able to happily coexist!

Fortunately, we're back to just the usual boundary-testing and occasional tantrum, sprinkled with hugs and declarations of love. Whew!

She has decided that it is okay to be a girl in her pretend games. Now everything is pink, flowery, girly, sparkly. Kittens and puppies are superceding monsters and bugs -- this week, at least.

Marc is out of town for the week, and I was a little concerned with how our little daddy's girl would handle his absence. When he told her he would be gone for 6 days, she said, "6 days?! But I can barely count to 6!" (this from the girl who counts to 100, for fun)

In the last few days, she has been asking me to take pictures of her constantly. Last night after I brushed her teeth, we were hugging and she wanted me to get my camera. How can I say no to that?

I love all those photos. And the thought of you not wanting to squash her characteristics just happily coexist with them made me smile. She is hilarious, I really love 3-4 yr olds. Especially when I'm not the one frustrated over them.

Never say no when she asks for the camera. Too cute.

I love the "many faces of Eva"
She sure has personality!
Glad you've made it through the rough patch...
Just when I think I've made it through the rough patch with one, I'm on to one with the next...arrrr

I love it and wouldn't change the opportunity I've had to have my children, but there's just nothing out there that can prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster that is MOTHERHOOD or Smotherhood as you guys call it...

She is chock full of personality for sure! I'm glad the rough patch has passed so you can get back to a normal level of 3-year oldness.

All I want in life is to peacefully coexist!

I love all the photos- I never have great photos of my kids! It's hard to remember that those qualities that can be so trying and exasperating in a 3-year old are often actually good qualities for a person to have. It's just a lot of qualities bottled up in an (especially) tiny body. So good for you! I need to create a mantra about this...
And what is that cutest sweater??
And love the new banner. I think for my birthday I want a new banner :) That's all.

Such a darling collection of personality shots! You were such a tractable child, nothing so volatile!

WAY cute photos, I can't say which one is my favorite. I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to come!

she is adorable. i love that group of pictures. i often wonder how girl angst at 3 compares to boy angst. :) something tells me mother/daughter relationships are always meant to be more complicated than those of mothers and sons.

I love the picture of you two. Coming out of a rough patch is a delightful realization.

She is such a cute girl, full of personality. It's hard to embrace those things sometimes as a mother b/c they cause us to clash but it makes them who they are. I have 2 girls full of spunk and it sure tests me sometimes... but I love them to death. Eva is such a doll. I love the photos, the last one is so cute.

She sounds a lot like my megan, even down to wanting me to take pictures of her. I'm also trying to find a balance to keep her the way she is and coexisting with her.

Darling photos. I can't believe how long her hair has gotten.
