the longest day

Today was the big day when Lucas and I got up at 5:30 to go to the dentist.

He was so cold, he wore his coat and used a blanket that they had in the office and he was still shivering!

The nitrous they gave him upset his stomach, so by the end he was writhing on the table. I've never seen the dentist pull a tooth so fast! Lucas didn't even know they had done it. Once they switched him back to oxygen he started to feel better.

It felt so weird to have paid and be leaving the dentist at 6:48 a.m.

We saw a sunrise on our way home.

I guess he wasn't completely recovered because he threw up in my van on the way home. :(

He rested on the couch for about 3 hours while the numbness wore off and his stomach recovered. Then he was able to truly delight in the tooth that was returned to him:

I think I'll refrain from showing the actual tooth, because it is kind of nasty (it has a big hole in it and a very long root!). After lunch, he went to school and showed it off to his friends.

Besides that little adventure, I finished making a Christmas gift, played "egg in the nest" with Eva, went to Borders, talked to Jill, took Max to cello, went to Barnes & Noble, went to Jo-Ann's, talked to my s-i-l Michelle, wrapped gifts, packaged gifts for tomorrow's mail, made visiting teaching appointments, talked to Jessie, listened to Max's new pieces, uploaded photos to Smugmug..... and I haven't eaten dinner yet.

A little while ago, I asked Lucas if he could believe that it was just this morning that we went to the dentist. We both agreed that that felt like yesterday because today was a very LONG day!

I'm glad it went well even if it made for the longest day ever.

WOW, what a day! You accomplished some SERIOUS business. I have list-checked-off-envy. Good job, my friend! (pat, pat, pat on your back)

What an insanely long day, especially since you were done with the dental appointment in time to see the sun rise! Good grief.

I'm so glad it went well for Lucas (sorry about the puke in your van though) and that he was able to go to school. I was thinking about him today (though not at 6:00am) and hoping you both were doing well.

Way to get so much done today! I know you didn't get to mail the things you wanted to mail, but your list looks super productive.

I am feeling sympathy for poor Lucas. I had an early morning dentist appointment and also had the cold shakes...nerves and cold mixing I think. Nothing NOTHING creeps me out more than needles and instruments in my mouth.

I just hope your bill wasn't as awful as mine.

your day makes me tired!

I'm green with envy with all you got crossed off. Amazing! I love those days but man it usually takes me a day at home to recover. I hope tomorrow is equally productive. I have so much to do.

I have never been to the dentist that early. Crazy dentist hours.

I have a love/hate relationship with days like this. Not to mention a serious fear of the dentist.

I bet it feels great to get so much done?! plus... it looks like everyone is back to school- YES!!

hope it lasts... :)

It is grossly satisfying to do so much in one day, even if it meant getting up so early to do it. The blanket picture cracks me up. I get cold at the dentist as well. Sorry about the throw up in your car.

I hope to have an accomplished list like yours one of these days. So impressive!

Well I'm glad Lucas can smile about it now! I hope you can to the next day. What a day.

A long day that I'm sure he's thrilled to have behind him.

Okay, I shuddered a huge shiver when I saw your snowy mountain picture. It's gorgeous, but so so so cold-looking.

any time you start a day before the sun, it's bound to feel long. i can't say that i love days that start this early, but on the plus side i am always able to accomplish so much more. and...i fall into bed and sleep deeply.

i'm glad lucas is feeling better.

That sunrise pic is breathtaking and I keep thinking what a trooper Lucas is to go to school after all that.

What's up with the dentist's office being so cold? Whenever I go to the dentist I have to plan my outfit accordingly, knowing that it will be FREEZING! Is it some psychological thing that's supposed to distract the patient from discomfort and pain? I don't know, but I thought it was just my dentist's office. That picture of Lucas swathed in both his coat and a blanket cracked me up!

Your day sounds just like mine have been lately... so crazy. I hope Lucas is feeling ok. I just LOVE that photo you took of Mt. Timp and the sunset. It's one of my most favorite scenes in the world. Yes, the world. Love it.
