unbelievable.

Remember my friend Katrina, who visited me from Seattle around Halloween?

I just finished watching CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute. Her husband, Awilo (otherwise known as Peter) was one of the six main honorees.

I've met Awilo, I have heard all about the clinic he and Katrina started in his village in Kenya. But nothing prepared me for seeing a short film about him on CNN! Seeing him in Kenya was amazing. Watching him give his absolutely wonderful acceptance speech just made me cry.

{to see his story, go to: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living/2007/11/30/heroes.peter.kithene.cnn}

Katrina's mother died last Saturday. Awilo paid tribute to her in his speech, as she was one of his biggest supporters. The camera panned to Katrina, who just then had, as Marc said, a perfect Hollywood tear running down her cheek. Kat, I am so sorry for your loss. And I am so happy, thrilled beyond belief, for this unbelievable recognition for Awilo's work.

I watched the entire show, and was so very inspired by each person who was featured. So many individuals making a big difference. The viewers' choice award went to a young boy, who said, "You are never too young to change the world." You are never too old, either. I need to remember that.

I need to watch that. It's so amazing that you actually know a CNN Hero, crazy.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Katrina's mother. What timing. She must be elated for her husband and devastated about her mother.

I can't wait to watch it- we of course, dvr'd it since it was on too late for our geriatric ways. I echo Jill's sentiments. Elation and Devestation both.

Wow -- that is amazing. So heartwarming.

I'm sad for your friend -- such a complex time emotionally with all this going on.

In my case maybe the phrase should be, "You're never too old to change the world".

Yeah I need to see that too. What an inspiration one person can bring to many. I am so sad about your friend's mom....and glad to hear her husband did a tribute on her honor.
