blizzard conditions!

{note: this is not our blizzard, just a google image}

Snow was predicted overnight, up to 7 inches! We were prepared for another winter wonderland, but instead we awoke to just a dusting. It continued to snow, but the ground was just kind of slushy.

I took Max to his cello lesson, then Marc and I had a pow-wow about Christmas preparations and what we needed/wanted to get done today. We went to Borders and got a few gifts taken care of, then he headed to his office and I had a whole list of Christmas errands.

By the time I fed the kids lunch and did a couple of necessary things around the house, it was afternoon and I knew I had to head out. I opened the door and was hit by a blast of snow -- you know, the horizontally blowing kind. In the mad dash from our front door to the van door, my hair got so covered with snow, it looked like I was wearing a white wig. Somehow, in the two hours of so that I was home, 6" of snow had accumulated and it was still snowing hard.

Undeterred, I went first to the gas station. Then I turned around. I could barely see, and the roads were frighteningly slippery. There were lots of cars on the road (scary) but at least everyone had the sense to drive very slowly. I did have to stop at the grocery store, and just pushing the cart through the parking lot was an adventure in balance and strength.

Meanwhile, my boys had been out sledding and they had the reddest cheeks I have ever seen!

So, I didn't get any of my other Christmas errands done. I was a little disappointed, but we just had a change of plans. I came home and made a pot of chili. The kids had baths and hot chocolate. {side note: Eva declared hot chocolate to be her favorite, especially the "marshpillows" that swim with their friends in their chocolate bath.}

This weather may not be conducive to running around, but it sure does feel Christmasy!

Oh I loved today. I too woke up expecting a white wonderland- but was happy it was at least raining. Then the snow started so I canceled all my outing and about-ing and stayed home in cozy jammies and worked on projects. Oh the joy!

Lucas looks so cute! I love rosy cheeks on boys.

Oh what fun! Glad you could adapt.

This is such a funny line: "marshpillows" that swim with their friends in their chocolate bath.

Whoa, I'm a tad jealous of your snow accumulation! And...I'm totally in love with your christmas header!

P.S. I changed my blog address (the new one is linked on my profile) so make sure you update your bookmarks etc and tell all your friends. :)

Those red cheeks are soooo cute! And I love marshpillows in my hot chocolate, I just wish I'd called them that my whole life (all well, from now on anyways)!
The grocery cart wheels really don't manage snow well, I ask for help out when the parking lot is caked with snow.

I expected to wake up to a winter wonderland as well, so I couldn't believe there was nothing on the ground when I got up this morning.

Our return home from freakin Eagle Mountain (around 5:00pm) was quite treacherous, so I was relieved to make it home safely.

The kids ended up making a huge snowman in the dark!

I went grocery shopping Friday night just in case we were snowed in. My husband is still making fun of me. We still have no where near the snow you got...although it's still coming down so we shall see!

cutest rosy cheeks ever.

Wow! THose are the kind of snowstorms, when you just want to snuggle up with a good book or a good movie and sip hot chocolate. Glad you got the most important errands done, and made it home safe!

I had to laugh when I read that your husband went to the office and you had the list of Christmas errands....isn't that always the way? But, my favorite part was your change of plans. Perfect day, if you ask me.

That is so funny! I never thought of "marshpillows" swimming with their friends in a chocolate bath. Eva still continues to flabergast me with her amazing vocabulary and random quotes.

Yes - so Christmasy! I want some marshpillows - an alarmingly appropriate misnomer.

You need to write a book some day with all of the funny things Eva says!

What is up with this weather?! It didn't even hit above freezing today. I'm sick of being cold.
I got cortisone shots in my knees last week. We'll see if that helps at all (although I think it's just a bandaid, but it may help some).
