neighborhood brocante

A temporary brocante (kind of a step up from a flea market) was set up right on our street this weekend; Marc and I took Eva and went out to explore it yesterday morning. It's amazing to me that the vendors have all of their wares -- fine paintings, rugs, china, silver, mirrors, furniture -- set up inside these little tents, right out on the street. And at night, they closed up the tents and left it all there! Marc said they had security on patrol, but still...


I bought an amazing vintage white sundress for Eva (only 15 euros!). It is in perfect condition, and she wore it to church today. I wish I had pictures of her in it, but she got it so dirty that now I have to wash it (by hand) and try again. We want to stage a photo shoot with her wearing it -- I swear she looks like a little princess!


This vendor had a staggering array of old print blocks, all neatly arranged by letter! I wish I could have gotten a better photo, but he had his eye on me...

I wish I could have gotten more photos. Marc took more than I did (he had his giant zoom lens and could therefore get more stealth pictures from a distance) and his are better than mine as well.

All we bought was the dress for Eva, some vintage postcards and a few old photos, but it was the perfect people-watching, atmosphere-soaking Saturday morning activity for us.
