I love Mondays!!

Oh how I love the opportunity to start each week afresh! Even though I have been a stay-at-home mom for 8 1/2 years now, I am still struck by how much I now love Mondays. I love getting back to the normal routine, I love having the whole week in front of me, I love being able to start over on working on the things I want to accomplish.

Today was a particularly wonderful Monday because it was the first one in a very long time that was mine to use as I saw fit (read: no more sick kids!). I got up early to exercise, and Eva actually cooperated by not waking up as soon as I did. I even got to shower before she woke up! I got the boys off to school, went visiting teaching, went to the scrapbook store, and found a basket I needed at Michael's.

When Eva took a nap, I worked on my valentines and my project of the day:

my bedside table before, with books piled on, underneath, and around

my bedside table after, with books and magazines neatly corralled in my new, very functional and attractive basket! I couldn't be more pleased.

And now, for a little progress report:

I did fabulously well during the first three weeks of the year on my fitness and weight loss goals. I exercised at least 4 times each week, and lost a total of 6.5 pounds.

During the next three weeks, I tanked big time (but to be fair to myself, it was all due to the insane bout of sickness around here). I think I exercised twice during the entire time, and gained two pounds. I definitely tend to eat better when I'm also working out... But, I'm back on board now!

to sum up:

net weight lost in 2007 so far: 4.5 pounds
books read in 2007: 6
weeks until we go to Paris: 10 (yikes!)

I don't know if I share the same love for mondays...although I have enjoyed watching the last part of wife swap and super nanny...i just love that show. I love JO JO and think soooo highly of her. I usually clean clean clean clean all day long (if we don't go out) and it is weird because one thing leads to another and another and then the whole house becomes involved in the cleaning and it usually takes me a 10 hour day...no every monday but at least a couple in the month. I think I will try and put more of your perspective on my monday's it might do me some good!

I like your Monday perspective- I might have to take that on next week. The basket with books does look very pleasing! Good job on the weight loss- it is even more impressive knowing the hell you have been through the last couple weeks. I love your whole attitude in this post- so glad the kids are better.

Oh, I wish I could say that I love Mondays, but it is usually the day I dig out from under the weekend clutter! I love your bedside table and the adorable basket you found for your books and magazines. Good job on your weight loss!

Your bedside table before & after pictures are so pleasing. I can totally imagine your giddyness upon finding the perfect basket. I love projects like that.

Congrats on the weightloss and books read so far this year! I think you did great during those weeks of being stuck at home nursing sick kids.

I love Mondays too. Yours went much better than mine though. I too am back on the exercise plan (as of yesterday). I gasped a little when you said you lost 6.5 pounds that is awesome!

Your bedside table is so cute and looks great "after."

I love monday's too. It's so refreshing to start over and back to a normal routine.

Your table looks amazing. Right out of a magazine. Good for you tackling the project and for all the progress you made so far this year.

Great before and after photos--so satifying to bring order. Congrats on the net weight loss--sickness in the household puts everything on hold! I also eat better when I'm exericising.

Great job on getting up early, exercising, & showering before Eva woke up! It is so hard to manage that. You can do it! :)

I love the bedside table! It looks beautiful!

I'm so glad that your house is well. What a relief.

Your bedside table looks great, so neat and orderly and calming, great find on the basket.

Keep up the good work with exercising. I can't believe it's a mere 10 weeks before Paris. Now that's a count down.

Isn't it funny how the days most of the world hate, we love. Good job on the 4.5 pounds. I answered your question in a rather lenghty reply on my blog, but it was a few days ago so you'll have to scroll down.
I love baskets at Michael's. That table just screams Michelle to me. While it's functional, it's also fun and full of life. I love get things all organized.

hmmm, I could learn something from your Monday attitude, Michelle! I usually view it as a "rest" day and a bit of calm after a weekend of chaos. Too often I view it as the start to another week of crazy. I am quite sure that if my attitude changed I would be better off when Monday rolls around.

Well done on the bedside table-- looks good and love the lamp!

Congrats on your weight loss! Keep up the great work.

Your Monday sounds fabulous. It's nice when everything works out as you want it to.
It's so nice when you have no sick kids. We've been sick free for over a month (knock on wood)
I love your basket.

I love that you did a before picture--it makes the after that much more satisfying. I believe having a tidy bedroom should come before anywhere else in the house. It's one's sanctuary and should be treated as such--good for you. I spent a semester in Paris and became known as the baguette connoisseur--searching out that perfect balance of chewy center and crispy, but not dry, outer crust. Wish I could remember where to send you--have fun!!

Your bedside table makes me wish I had one. We share one :( in our house.

Mondays are normally my cleaning days, I dread them and then am okay once I start to get my groove on.

congratulations on it all michelle! what great achievements, even in spite of your kids being sick for so long.

I love the idea of Mondays, but it is early out for my kids which cuts my day really short for trying to catch up from the weekend!

Love your clean table and the awesome basket!
