acceptance

Eva was wondering why I didn't eat a muffin right after we baked them, or why I ordered my hamburger without a bun.

I told her that I'm only eating breads and treats at dinnertime because I'm trying to lose weight.

She then asked why I wanted to lose weight so much. I told her it was mostly so that I would feel better and so my knees wouldn't have to work so hard.

She wondered if I would become shorter if I lost weight. "No, just thinner," I said.

E: "Thinner?! I don't know if I would like that..."

M: (trying not to laugh) "Why not?"

E: "Well, I guess it will be okay. If you don't get too thin."

I doubt that will be a problem. But I have to say, it was reassuring to hear that she likes me the way I am.

That is sweet! Griffin tells me things like my tummy makes a great pillow because it's so soft and while I cringe when I hear things like that it is a good feeling as a mom to know how much our children love us no matter what.

It reminds me of the talks in Conference this weekend where we were instructed to be more like little children. Wouldn't it be nice if we were all so accepting of others and ourselves! What wise and sweet words from Eva.

I'm so glad she is concerned with you getting too thin, I was seriously afraid to read what she might have said because it could have gone the other way!

My kids have told me this same thing! My knees would be so much better off also.

...i see she subscribes to Jessie's approach. "To me, you're not".

End of story. I like it.

What a sweetie! How is that new eating approach going? I need more self-control to not eat a muffun or two or three when they are fresh from the oven! How do you do it?

Kids have such pure eyes. They know love is not a physical thing, although I agree; You're pretty dang awesome, Michelle.
I can't believe how much she is growing up! My gosh, so beautiful!
