Creative Friday!

Jill and Landon came over on Friday afternoon for Creative Friday! We didn't start until 4:00, so we went until 9:00 or so. It was the perfect way to kick off our Christmas vacation!

When Jill arrived, I was packing up gifts to send to my mom's house (Jessie's family will be there for Christmas this year as well). Jill helped me with the packing tape and addressing and we dashed over to Harmon's to beat the mail pick-up. (The fact that Harmon's offers mailing services makes me giddy every single time I use it.)

While we were at the grocery store, Jill wisely suggested that we pick up provisions for dinner. Of course, I couldn't think of anything to make. It always surprises me that, for all that I enjoy cooking and eating good food, I can never think of what to make for dinner. Jill came up with Wimmer Truc, a sandwich that my neighbor invented while on his mission in France. We ate it fairly frequently while living in France, but I don't think I've made it once since our return.

Shortly after our return, Jill got a call from a member of her bishopric, asking her to come in for an 8:00 Saturday morning meeting. This didn't bode well, and she was overcome with a sense of flushing and panic. (How I enjoy capturing her expressions! It made me feel like all was right with the world.)

Max brought in the mail, which included the PSAT test results he has been waiting for. (He did very well.)

Jill was working on her sharing time for Sunday. I think this may be the first time the scriptures have made an appearance at Creative Friday. I love it.

She was kind enough to let Eva "help" her. (Also, Eva came home from playing with a friend and had play makeup all over, including pink eyebrows – that was a first.)

I was typing a quick email, and Eva wriggled in-between my arms. She wanted to know what it said, but I didn't tell her because I was concentrating on finishing, so she just started reading it herself! I know she's been getting pretty good at reading, but somehow this totally took me by surprise.

Wimmer Truc Рsaut̩ed ground beef, onion, and red pepper on a baguette. Ideally, you spread Boursin cheese (one of the cheapest, yet completely delicious, things you can buy in France) on the baguette. Since it's about $7.00 here, we used garlic & chive cream cheese as a substitute. Harmon's has surprisingly good baguettes!

Max, Lucas and Landon played Guitar Hero for awhile. Mercifully, they found other things to do, because with the strumming and drumming, that game adds a lot of noise and chaos to the mix.

Eva and I repairing a glittery Christmas church I bought for a gift. (For the second time. I ran over the first one! But that's another post...)

Jill managed to write all of these notes after she finished her sharing time. I did some more wrapping and Christmas prep. And now we have time to squeeze in some more Creative Friday time before Jill has to go back to work!

Wait. You RAN OVER the first one? I can't wait to hear about this. I'm laughing already.

I do love the way you wrap a gift. You have a real gift for it.

I also love the picture of Jill with the scriptures and Max with the PSAT. You get such good angles and focal points.

I'm glad you got to have a Creative Friday....

I'm so glad we squeezed this in that day, especially because it's kind of looking like this week is going to be too crazy!

The Wimmer Truc was fantastic!
