Creative Friday

Last Friday, I had plans to paint one of my white pumpkins (I had seen this on a blog and knew I had to do it), and Eva was dying to help. I was reluctant at first, but then I figured, what could it hurt?

I traced the design and outlined it with paint, and she filled it in. She was giddy with excitement, and said, "We hardly ever do the same projects together!" How could I have turned her down?

We were both delighted with the finished product.

A quote from Jill's blog: Another funny Eva moment came as she listened to me go on about how amazing I think our ability (as women) to multi-task is. I was recounting the craziness of my Thursday afternoon and the brilliant efficiency with which I handled things (if I do say so myself) and ended by saying, "We are just amazing." Then Eva said in a pouty, put-out way, "I'm not amazing." Then she thought about it for a second and said questioningly, "Am I amazing?" To which Michelle and I both replied, "Yes, you are, you're a girl!" It felt like Eva was being trained in more than just creativity this week.

I just love that.

I love the way Jill took a self-portrait in my Halloween kugels. Also the way she immediately assessed the threat of the fake spider Eva had arranged on the bowl (largely for Jill's benefit, ha!) and decided it was okay because it had a smile.

I felt kind of like a rock star for finishing a project before Eva even went to school, so after lunch I delved into another (making fabric flowers).

some of Jill's genius cards

She was highly productive.

Fall sweater self-portrait, hooray!

1. I love the painted pumpkin. I think I need to try that next year.

2. I love it that Eva was trained in other things besides creativity. It's important for girls to get that kind of training, I think.

3. I love fall sweaters.

4. I love your fabric flowers.

5. I just love this post.

I find that reading your Creative Friday posts adds greatly to the pleasure of my memory of it. It's like a pat on the back and reinforcement of this excellent habit of ours. Aren't we just great?! Hee.

Great post! I love all your creative ideas, and they always make me feel like I'm behind the times!

I'm really tired of my (quite famous) painted pumpkins...bronzed and glazed and glittered to a fair thee well. I always wonder how many more years they will be in demand, and am amazed...but this year, perfectly irritated...a good number of them are spoiling within days of being painted! What the?! From the look of it, it seemed like a banner year for pumpkins. Ugh.

I'm going to try something like your painted caspers next year. Way cute!

All of you are totally amazing, including Eva!

Hie, not hue. The auto-speller on my phone is really starting to irritate me.

Although it sounds more fun to "hue" somewhere, rather than to "hie" there. Don't you think? Less bossy.

Okay, so I have to tell you that I saved this post in my reader because I glanced at the first picture and knew it would be a great post...I wanted to take my time reading it. Of course you didn't disappoint! I loved everything about this post. Those flowers are just gorgeous. I keep thinking I should make some myself but I kind of just want to ask you to make some for me instead. :)
