teamwork

Today I recruited the kids to help me wash all the shutters. Even Eva helped! In all, we have 6 sets of plantation shutters over the windows, and 5 sets of louvered closet doors. We used a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap, ammonia, and hot water. The kids were not keen on the smell, especially Lucas, but we were professionals and we rose above it. It was a major job -- I think it took 2.5 hours -- imagine how long I would have been at it alone! I think they felt the satisfaction of a job well done.

Yesterday I cleaned out the pantry. Another pretty big job.

Other things I've done in the last couple of days:
  • picked up the vacuum from the repair shop and vacuumed (ahhhh!)
  • designed a couple of advertising emails for my mom's store
  • purchased and packaged birthday gifts for niece Fiona and brother-in-law Timm
  • stocked up on children's medicines
  • bought the last of the books Max needs for English
  • paid the bills
  • signed us up for all paperless bills
  • went to my last YW activity (finished aprons)
I haven't been as super-productive as I would like. I still seem to be adding things to my to-do lists about as fast as I'm crossing them off. I have to get to a point where there are no more things to add, right? And soon. T-6 days.

Now, off to read my book club book!

"But we were professionals and rose above it." How very funny.

Just think of everything you're going to come home to that is done. It's amazing what you are doing.

I am so impressed with your productivity! I think it's great that you enlisted the kids' help with the cleaning and Paris prep because it really is a family affair.

I'm still waiting for any assignments I can do, and am available for child care on Thursday.

Wow! You were busy! Just think of how you'll feel when you finally get on the plane and everything is done. You may need a few days in Paris to just lounge around, relax, and recover!

My favorite thing, is that with all you have to do - 3 items on your list are for other people! You are truly amazing!!

Your trip is coming so fast for me! I am so impressed with all you have gotten done-

I seriously can't wait to read all about paris...

Big jobs that take a long time make you feel less productive but clean pantry and wash shutters should have been 48pt.type next to a lot of 12pt.type items!

I'm with Jill- please give me something to do! I can take kids on Thursday or Friday if you and Jill want to go get pedicures! The boys can watch movies on my projector and Ethan would love a friend to play with- he likes dinosaurs and girls so Eva is just his type! I also clean... just say the word!

We have been singing Sinatra's "I love Paris" ever since Savannah's party. I am thinking you should blast that all over your house for the next week as you all team up to leave. It will give you all goosebumps as you pack.

These pre-Paris productivity lists of yours sooooo inspires me...I'm telling you! I always get so much more accomplished when I've got a list of to do's that are a mile long...there's no time to sit idly around...

Posts from Paris will just add additional charm to your already brimming with charm blog... :)

I'm really glad the kids were able to help. I always say that kids are perfect for cleaning jobs because their little hands can fit so many places that adult hands can't.

Do you realize that most people wouldn't make any preparations if they were leaving the country for four months? Even if someone else was staying in their house. You're amazing. I can't get over all that you've done.

I'm impressed with what you've gotten done. It can't imagine what it must take to leave town for such an extended period.

That's so funny that you mentioned that your kids don't like the smell of Murphy's and ammonia, because right before I read it I was thinking of how much I love that smell. I would seriously love a Murphy's diffuser or candle. I'm glad that it didn't hold you all back from some serious productivity.
