weird

Today had to be the weirdest first day of school for us ever.

Because we're leaving in just over two weeks, the schools told me not to bother having the boys come in for the beginning of the year. In fact, they probably won't go back to school until sometime after Christmas. Of course, they have no problem with this whatsoever. But it seemed really strange to me to know that all the kids were going back to school today, and yet my boys slept in and then stayed in their pajamas all day. (It's funny, too, they hardly ever do that unless they're sick -- must have been some kind of no-school statement.)

Another strange thing: Lucas's school called to report him absent, and I had to remind them that he is withdrawing for the first part of the year.

Max worked on schoolwork for a good chunk of the day (just in his jammies). That's his routine now, as he wants to get as much work done as possible before we leave. Good news: he now has 4 classes of the 6 possible ones he can take on Electronic High School! Bad news: we realized that these classes are only for one quarter, which means that he will have to re-register for the 2nd quarter of everything after he completes the work for his current courses. Really bad news for Max. He is fearing he won't have any time to have fun in Paris. I sure hope he is wrong.

Even though they didn't go to school, we celebrated anyway with waffle cone sundaes.

I was wondering if they were starting school yesterday or not. I figured not.

This Electronic High School is turning out to be difficult! I hope it all works out in the end. And I'm sure Max will have plenty of time for fun in Paris. Of course, you can remind him that by the time 2nd quarter begins it's going to be cold, so he may be happy to have an excuse to stay in!

Delicious looking sundae! If only I hadn't wasted my splurge for the week on a dried up mint brownie at Kneaders. Never get a brownie from Kneaders late in the evening!

that is weird...

I hope the electronic H.S. works out- I know a lot of kids that really like it.

I can't believe it's only two weeks away now- amazing!

Jill beat me to my comment! I don't know if it is the food or the cute dishes but your blog always makes me hungry!

Definitely weird to not send boys to school.

I'm surprised too that they didn't want the kids to start off the year at least. Oh well, I'm sure all will go well. :)

oooh that ice cream does look delish...especially at 12:05 am.

I just can't get over how exotic your life is, and yet it comes across so casual. Paris again...how amazing for your whole family!

The waffle cone sundae looks awesome! I can't believe that Paris is only 2 weeks away. I'm wishing you less stress because I know you must be feeling it. I know you will get everything done and be ready to go.

That's a dream first day of school, for sure!

But the two week countdown...way too scarey!! How in the world did that happen?

I'm already looking forward to the blog posts to come. I wish I were just in your backyard to help you get ready to go.

How fun, I would feel like I was getting away with something sneaky by not showing up to school on the first day.

I think I could eat a waffle cone plain and still be happy. I hated them when I was little, and would only eat cake cones. What a waste!
