progress report

I just thought I'd report that the water damage reconstruction from our flood is finally, finally done! All the drywall, painting, and baseboards are finished. We got new carpet downstairs (charcoal), we had a mold test (negative), and the contractors sent someone to clean up the mess they made. And it only took 9 weeks...

I brought in and cleaned up everything that had been moved to the patio.

We decided not to move back our old sofa, the treadmill, and the elliptical machine (but now the garage is so full we can't walk in it.) We thoroughly cleaned out the closet in the laundry room, for the first time since we moved in.

Marc painted the downstairs (Sherwin Williams Anonymous).

And he's currently painting the downstairs fireplace (Sherwin Williams Intellectual Gray). It's all part of his transformation of our second family room, which has really been more like an exercise room/music room/guest room, into his "man-cave." Now he can finally have the modern media room he's been pining after (eventually, pending additional $$).

And when Marc moved our bookshelf back into position and re-organized all of the books, he also added this to the top.

I guess some positive things came out of that blasted flood after all.

It's crazy that it took 9 weeks for all of this, but then again that's a whole lot of stuff going on. It was a painful way to get new carpet, but woohoo for no more red carpet!

I'm excited to see the man cave when it's finished. I'm sure your piano students will enjoy the change as well. What are you going to do with the treadmill and the elliptical machine? Can you sell them?

I was admiring the frames on top of the bookshelf at book club. What a cool idea! Between you and Marc, the creativity is just unbelievable!

Oh, and hooray for no mold!!!

That's the same Sherwin Williams paint color I chose for John's room, and that reminds me, I haven't blogged about the transformation yet. . . .

Hooray for no red carpet!

Good thing Marc has good taste and you can feel certain that his man cave won't be a brown plaid, deer head wonderland.

Jill is funny...sell them? NO! use them! My eleptical is out of wack and Alf won't adjust it. I will use it, but every so often it cluncks DOWN to the floor (the pedal) i FEAR i am going to brake it....so I don't use it. yOU know, when thigns like these happen, cleaning is always a good thing, wether we are forced into it, or inspired into it. GOODNESS always comes afterwwards.
