eighteen years

I came down from camp yesterday for Max's birthday (more on that later) and our anniversary. We didn't get to celebrate our anniversary yet, but we did exchange gifts.

Marc gave me this adorable little package, and all I got was this dumb blurry photo! The tag was the main gift: the gift of time (the best gift of all!). While we are in Paris this fall, he will stay with the kids every Friday so I can just enjoy the city and do whatever I want -- alone. This is a tie with Wonderful Wednesdays for the best gift ever!! I have to admit I am more excited about our Study Abroad experience now.

And inside the box:
an iPod touch! So exciting. Seriously, I cannot compete with Marc on gift-giving, he trumps me every time. (I gave him a gift certificate for a foot reflexology massage.)

I'm thinking these could be life-changing gifts -- how often does that happen?

i was hoping you'd have some time to yourself in paris! yes! i'm so happy for you, so, so happy!

i played with my friend's ipod touch awhile* ago. i didn't use any of the features, i just kept whizzing through her playlist. it was so fun! zoom! zoom!

18 years of marriage is commendable.

i had to look up the proper usage for awhile, though in the end i was still confused and just rolled the dice on it.

These are great gifts! I think it's so sweet that you guys still give each other things for your anniversary. I wonder if Randy and I would if our anniversary wasn't 4 days before Christmas (#$@!).

I'm so excited for you to have your Fridays free in Paris! You soooo deserve to enjoy the city on your own after having toddlers with you there for so many years!

Eighteen years is quite an accomplishment...congratulations! I think it's interesting you note they may be life changing. I've never thought about it until after the fact, how exciting to see it before the fact.

Happy Anniversary to you.

Oh, you are going to love your ipod touch! Jason has the phone and Blake saved up and bought his own and they are both so cool. I am always stealing Blakes to check it out. There are soooo many free apps that you can down load. Have fun with that. And the time to yourself??? Seriously, such a great gift.

I was just wondering today if you would be able to leave Max with Eva so you could have some time on your own. This is even better! You have to go to La Droguerie at La Bon Marche and bask in the glory of yarn. cotton lawn and buttons! How exciting! What a great gift. Oh, and the iPod touch is cool, too. ;)

Cool, for sure! Eighteen years is really a milestone. It doesn't seem possible to me, I recall the day so well. I'm sure you will also recall that between Grandma, Denise and I, we did everything by ourselves-food, flowers and decor. By the time the photographer arrived, I was stressed out and in a very unphotographic mood! I don't suggest you ever try that.I guess that's what Mom's are for! I can do it for you.

Happy Anniversary and congrats! I'm duly impressed with Marc's gift-giving as well. Dad has gotten a bit better with years, but still needs a good bit of "prompting" shall we say to have a scope for imagination on what to give! He is very generous, however.

I'm sure Fridays in Paris will be a delight!

Yes, both are most certainly life-changing gifts!

Oh please-oh please-oh please blog from Paris this fall!

I'm actually begging.

Just read your mom's comment. She's amazing. There are no words.

And, Susan? Will you come do everything when my girls get married? (tee-hee)

Michelle-
I would love for you to do a post about Paris. How have you been there before and what are the details of going back-how long, etc.? Thanks!

Awesome! I would like both of these, esp. the gift of time!

I love that Amy said "leave Max with Eva" because in Eva's mind I think that is probably accurate!

Rick Steves has new travel apps for iPhones and iPod Touches that seem pretty cool and quite handy. Currently there is a free one for the Orsay Museum. Worth checking out to get even better use of your iPod Touch while you're abroad!

The gift of time alone is the #1 thing on my list since becoming a mom. Marc is SO onto something there.

And the iPod Touch is a nice...touch :) (I couldn't resist)
