limbo

Our house flooded on Friday night (the hose that goes to the icemaker burst). There was much more damage that I could have imagined from such a seemingly small amount of water. We've been staying in a hotel while the house dries out, and restoration is supposed to begin tomorrow. Just when I feel like I'm totally done with the hotel and ready to go home, I go there to meet the workers and let them in, and when I look around, I can't wait to escape the chaos and mess. I'm a wimp when it comes to major clean-up and organization projects, I just can't face it!

So, as much as I want to post about Eva's birthday party and Women's Conference, I am stuck here in limbo...

Oh My Gosh!!!

See if they can check for mold while they are at it ;)

is your insurance paying for the hotel, do they at least have a pool the kids can play at?

I am so sorry- what a PAIN!

I can feel your pain! We had the same thing happen 4 years ago. (I can smile and laugh about it now!) Hang in there ...

Oh no, Michelle! That is terrible news. I hope the cleanup is less than it seems to be. Ugh! So sorry.

Oh NO! Thank goodness for insurance, I'm sure. But still.

Jill filled me in on your mess. I was hoping the hotel and pool could seem like a mini vacation but I guess not when you know why you are there.

Hopefully the cleaned up/renovated version of the house was worth the hassle.

Sorry you have to have 'one more thing!'

I have heard of these things happening. This sounds horrible to come home to! I hope that the clean up is quick and you are back home soon. So sorry this has happened to you...

Oh goodness. I am so sorry for you. I've been anxious to see the fruits of the Eva party, but if you can wait for a restored house, I suppose I can wait for your recap!

Oh Michelle! I am so sorry! What an awful mess!! I hope things get repaired quickly and you can be back home soon. Hotels are not fun, especially for extended periods of time.

I'm right there with Patsy! Check for MOLD!!! (well hells bells, if there wasn't mold before, there is now!)

Sorry. I'll keep praying.

Ok, my life has felt hard lately but I will stop complaining. I am so sorry to hear about your mess. Good luck with the clean up!

Forget the hotel, get yourself to Jill's house! That place is 5-star. I sure hope your homeowner's insurance is paying for this. Poor Michelle (hug). I'd be a wimp about this disaster, too.

It was a delightful friend-dream-come-true to meet you last week! Truly. I was in Giddy Mode, though, and not Actual Quality Conversation Mode...so i do regret that we didn't have more of a breather to talk. I realized after leaving that I hardly got to have a start-to-finish conversation with my favorite Michelle.

Oh well. Next time.....?

I sure hope your mess gets resolved soon. What are you doing with Eva during the day at a hotel???? C'mon over and we'll go to the park. She can boss Mimi around to her heart's content.

p.s. i LOVE that your mom said "hell's bells!!!" My dad says that all the time. I'm thinking I need to incorporate that phrase into my daily vocabulary.

I am an ostrich with it's head in the sand in those types of situations. I hope you get the help you need.

I feel your pain! I've experienced this too and it seemed like an insurmountable problem at the time. Hope things work out well and that you can maybe enjoy the accidental getaway!

I was wondering where you have been - was hoping it was just busy with the party and the college friends reunion. YUCK! What an ordeal! Haven't you paid your dues with sick kids, mice, carpet woes,...?

Oh my michelle...there is nothing like making a homebody be out of your home abode. I am sooooo sorry, I hope things get worked out. It is amazing when we think of our homes as living and breathing entities, and all that conveys. Maybe this is in disguised to get to the bottom of the sickens. I hope things get better, and everything gets back to normal.
love.
