Fortunately, on Tuesday our contractors took care of the sub-floor problem, put in new carpet pad upstairs, re-laid the carpet, and cleaned it! This means that we were able to move our furniture back into place and regain a semblance of normalcy in the upstairs living area. (just don't peek in our bedroom, yikes!)
No one came to do work on Wednesday, which normally would have frustrated me, but in this instance I was just grateful for the lack of grinding, grating noise. Well, mostly... Eva decided to count to 100. Repeatedly. I felt like the father in Pride and Prejudice who tells his piano-playing daughter, "you have delighted us long enough, dear!"
Jill grabbed the camera and recorded it, which enabled us to laugh rather than scream. Good call.
Jill also brought this delicious pizza from The Pizza Factory. I never ever go there, so it was a real treat.
Eva took a nap, which enabled me to finally, finally work on catching up on birthday packages!
I got 10 packages ready to send and it was hugely satisfying.
Once again, I was impressed by Jill's documentation. Not only does she sent out a lot of good mail, but she keeps track so she doesn't have to wonder if she already sent a thank you note. She even writes down what kind of card she sends so she doesn't repeatedly send the same card to the same person. I seriously need to take a page out of her book. I have little lists floating around that then get lost and I am sure I have sent duplicate notes because I can no longer remember...
(OK, really -- how long can I continue this weekly self-portrait tradition? Jill seems to be more beautiful and photogenic every week, while I just look... old. It's a little hard on the self-esteem!)
But anyway, back to Creative Friday: I continue to be amazed that Jill is willing to schlep over here with all of her stuff and listen to Eva's constant chattiness and whining. And ever so grateful. It's amazing how this ritual can make me feel like all is right with the world again. (or at least will be right. soon.)

One of my favorite quotes is: " Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are." I'm not sure who said it, but as one who thrives on the comfort of routines, it really rings true to me. I am happy that you got to have a "normal-feeling" day. Sounds like you needed it!
I could take many a lesson from Jill. She really IS the Queen of Good Mail, not only sending her signature cards, but keeping track of her correspondences so well. I tend to be a bit more like you with lists floating around!
"You've delighted us long enough, dear" is one of the best lines in Pride and Prejudice! At least Eva stops at 100, right? I mean, she could go on ... and on ... and continue to "delight."
I'm so glad the work man gave you a break so we could meet at your house before you left for your trip. Even though we would still have gotten together at my house, it's just not the same as our regular routine at yours.
That line from Pride and Prejudice captures our delight perfectly! I can still hear her in my head, 99.... and really must start adding more of a song flavor to my nines.
P.S. Check out my comment time (#$@!).
Oh my heavens, that Eva is the cutest thing ever. I love how she draws out the nines, looking at you expectantly to feed her the next number. Those chandelier cards (?) are GORGEOUS! You are so talented!
Those birthday packages look pretty great - did you know my birthday is July 13th!!! There are few things better than a really good friend.
I love the Pride and Prejudice reference and I LOVE your SP- you both look so happy and I love the catch lights in both pairs of eyes. It must have been a rejuvenating day!
ohhh I am sooo impressed with Eva, Jorvik can only count to 15! OHHHHHHH MY, he will be four in August should I really really worry? CUTE documentation of your perfect get away at home. And Eva is just darling...I don't think I can wait till 100 to eat a quesadilla.......
this is a Great post & I love the video... what a treasure.
I just bought the cutest little journal with no purpose in mind- hooray for the idea of keeping track of good mail! brilliant.
glad things are getting back to normal
p.s. how I love pride & prejudice- great quote, fitting situation :)
yeah for a wonderful day that makes you feel a sense of normalcy! Eva is precious :o)
Oh my goodness the counting video of Eva is absolutely "delightful"!! I loved it actually. She is such a character isn't she? This is an age that can make you or break you, at least that is what I am finding with Jared.
So glad you were able to have a normal day!
I hope you have a nice vacation!
Adorable Eva!!! I love your craft
Fridays -something I would do IF I
could craft anything & IF I had a
bud to hang with :)
As always, your account of Creative Friday leaves me just a bit jealous and wistful, but at the same time happy for you.*sigh*
i am impressed by eva's counting skills! and she is so self-assured. i love it! but wow- grateful i was not listening to it over and over... then again, maybe that's better than constant questions about star wars!!
i'm such a dual note sender once i get them out. i have a bad memory lately- need to write things down more often!
and your spts are great!!! i think they should most definitely continue. there are good days and bad days with them, of course, but you two are incredibly photogenic. mine never turn out quite right...
I'm so glad that things are getting back to normal for you! It's hard to have everything out of wack. I've been feeling that way lately, and we're moving this week, so I fear it will get worse before it gets better.
Oh, the counting...I feel for you!
You are Jill are both amazing!! I'm super impressed with Jill's note taking, and your birthday packages look darling.
I think you are both photogenic. Look at the pretty curl in your hair and how gorgeous and full your lips are!
I have to tell you, I laughed and laughed at the video clip of Eva and maybe more so at the Pride and Prejudice parallel...:)
ooh, she's cute and she knows it! i love it.
