Wonderful Wednesday!

{can you feel the excitement?}

I was telling Jill yesterday that, even when I feel like I'm coping pretty well with motherhood and life in general, Wonderful Wednesday is always so very welcome. I was doing well on Monday, but then on Tuesday I felt like I was on a countdown for WW. Kind of similar, I guess, to the way Creative Friday always feels like it arrives not a moment too soon...

Eva was very excited as well, running around collecting toys to take to Jill's house. After Jill picked her up, I headed to the library to get an audiobook. I was listening to One Thousand White Women and had to return it; fortunately it was still there so I checked it out again. I also ran to Einstein's Bagels, as that was Lucas's only sick request.

It was such a glorious Spring day (finally!) and I lingered in the library's courtyard for awhile before returning home.

Then it was time to attack the mess my studio had become! I put in my audiobook, grabbed the large Sonic drink and homemade cookies that Jill brought (yes!), and got to work.

After about 3 hours of cleaning, organizing, and putting away, I surfaced. Max got home from school and was sick as well. So, 2 boys with fevers laying in the family room, miserable and shivering... I took a break and watched 2 episodes of Chuck with them. They watched the season finale of Season 1 and I went back downstairs.

Success! Of course, there are always more boxes and drawers that I need to sort through, and I didn't get to any purging yet, but the floor is clear and walkable and my desk is ready for creating! That always feels so good, I wonder how I so easily let it get out of control?

At this point, it was nearly 6:00 p.m. and I was expecting Jill and Eva at any second. I decided to sit down and get going on the invitations for Eva's party next week:

dumb photo, but I almost finished it by the time they pulled up! (Jill's cough announced their arrival, she's still got it.)

I put Eva to bed not too long after she came home, then we all watched the American Idol results show. Marc and I watched a movie and I knitted. It was another wonderful Wednesday!

I get almost as much joy from your free day as you do because I know how rare it is for you to have a whole day to yourself. I'm especially glad you got to spend 3 hours in your studio! I think listening to an audiobook and being able to be alone with one's thoughts while surrounded by things you love has got to be one of life's best joys!

Your studio is awesome!!! How great to have that day to look forward to! Love that you listened to your book while you organized! Totally win win in my mind!
You and Jill have such a great thing going with your Wed/Fridays!

Your birthday invitations reminded me that I have to plan something for my little who is turning 6 in a few weeks! Yikes!

Sorry to hear about the boys being sick! Flu?

Now that's what I call a joyful day! Heaven, pure heaven--and such a feeling of accomplishment to see such a cleaned-up studio at the end of the day. Now on to Jill's blog to see the report of Wonderful Wednesday from her end of things.

Sorry to hear about the sick kids....

Minus the sick boys, this really does sound wonderful!

I've got Emerson's birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and I have zero ideas of what to do for it, and she wants to invite about 35 friends (which is not happening -- at least not in those numbers!).

Your studio looks so inviting!

Wonderful Wednesday strikes again! This is really making your year fly for me (WW?...again? already?)

I love seeing the before and after shots of one of your studio clean ups! Although like me, I am sure you dream of having the after shot remain ;)

You are so productive on WW. I know I'd waste at least half the day and then frantically try and catch up the second half. Your studio looks fabulous, good job!

I might love cleaning my craft room more than actually crafting! I love handling all the products as I put them away and then to have a clean work space that speaks to future projects getting done... LOVE that feeling!

Happy WW!

oh my, I can almost feel and tantalize the day off.......how fun, I would love to have one of those....they are very much needed by mums....seriously I can't think how single/divorced mum's do it....they must need the brake sooooo badly. Although most of them work...so in some sense, they probably have the get away feeling, but still to come and do it all by yourself....is daunting. Glad you have a friend like Jill that is one sweet gift.....invitations are adorable.

The invitations are darling!

Hooray for a day to get something you want done...

I hope your last Wonderful Wednesday of the school year you really get an alone day... maybe Jill needs to be on call to take Eva on whichever day both boys go to school in May?!

after spending a week with my sister and acting only in a partial mommy role, all i can say is that wonderful wednesday is the best thing that has ever been known to mankind. i don't know how mothers do it without regular opportunities to break free.
