back to real life

I'm back.

It's hard to come home from a vacation, especially when I've left my kids behind. There doesn't seem to be any way to soften the re-entry -- as soon as I walk in the door, everyone wants to show me something, tell me something, ask me to do something. (I can't say that I missed hearing, "Mom! Mom! Mom!" But I did miss their hugs and kisses.) And of course, my eyes start roving around, seeing things that need my attention.

Also, I hate unpacking. Packing I don't mind too much, but unpacking is another story.

I want to blog about my great trip, but today has been a very busy catching up sort of day, so that will have to wait.

Despite the pains of getting sucked back into the vortex, it was all worth it -- well worth it. And Eva even missed me, how about that?

We all missed your blogging. I feel the same way about getting home. Unpacking sometimes takes a full week in my world (or that's all I'm admitting to).

Welcome back!

You are so right, getting sucked back into the vortex is painful. I feel like I'm in some sort of time warp trying to catch up to real time. At least a laid back weekend awaits you. I hope?

Oh and welcome home!

reentry is awful, isn't it? i'm going to see my nieces and nephews at the end of the month and i almost didn't plan the vacation just because i knew coming back would be terrible. as you said, it's always worth it though.

it's hard to be hit with so many requests and obligations as soon as you hit the door, but it must give you a boost of self-esteem to realize how much your home centers around your presence. it is your realm, and only you know how to run it efficiently. to run a home well has to be a reassuring feeling; to see something you've cultivated for so many years continue to grow, but never away from you...i'm rhapsodizing now, i'll stop.

I have total empathy for your re-entry pains. Surely Conference Weekend will take the edge off.

Re-entry is tough. Hopefully Conference weekend will allow you to ease into life a little slower. Maybe?

I'm sure your family missed you in a huge way -- we missed you here in blogland!

Coming back to reality is always hard...

I'm with you on hating to unpack! And to think that packing and unpacking was my life for so many years!--I don't know how I did it!-

I even hate grocery shopping because there is unloading and unpacking to do...I wish I could hire someone to do that part for me...

I always appreciate my family more when I've been away from them...
and I think they feel the same way about me...Sounds like those were Eva's feelings as well... :)

Glad you had the time away and sorry that you have the re-entry adjustment! I can relate, for sure.

Did you find my pink flat iron at Grandma's by chance??!

I'm anxious to hear the details after I left!

I agree! Sometimes knowing I have to come home and unpack and readjust is enough to make me give going a second thought.
