Marc and I had both seen this product at Costco and been intrigued. Could it be good for our kids who are notoriously bad about eating fruits and vegetables? Could this nutrition boost help them not to get sick quite so often? I decided it was worth a try, so I shelled out the $30 for it yesterday.
I put some in Eva's Crystal Light and it turned it a very unappetizing brown, with a frothy head on it like a mug of beer. I tried it and winced. It tasted horrible, with a grassy pulp. This was not going to go over well. I gave it to her anyway, just to see what happened. Sure enough, a few minutes later I heard her calling, "Mom! This vitamin drink tastes terrible!"
Next, I put some in a glass of water for the boys to try. I didn't envision it being quite so... green. Lucas had a couple of swallows and let me know that would be plenty for the rest of his life. Max set out to prove everyone wrong, but even he couldn't have more than a couple swigs -- especially after it started to separate!
Who could possibly stand to drink this stuff?
I'll tell you who -- Marc.
Yep, apparently, when mixed with juice, he kind of likes it, in a weird, health nut way. I'll just stick to fruits and vegetables, thank you very much.

I know--that stuff is disgusting! But then I've never tried it with juice. . .hmm. . . .nah!
Ew! "Frothy head like a mug of beer?" EWW! Better stick with broccoli and carrots in their natural state.
Marc liking it? . . . at least your $30 will not go entirely to waste. (And, as Grandma always says, "There's no accounting for other people's taste.")
I was about to suggest you take it back to Costco since they are so awesome at return, even used ones. And then I read that Marc will drink the frothy, green/brown mixture. I'll second the notion to just stick with the real thing!
The photo of Lucas cracks me up. But the glass is actually a little frightening.
I bought this stuff a few weeks ago too and have only downed one pouch of it because it was so nasty. That lovely "apple melon" taste wasn't so lovely to me even though I chugged it as fast as I could. It's a bummed too because I was all psyched about having an easy way of eating greens!
Wow, that is one disturbing looking drink! It gives me the shivers just looking at it! And the idea that it foams -- so so wrong!
Vegetables are not supposed to foam. It kinda sounded like an idea with potential, but how did it ever make it pass the taste test phase looking like that? At least Marc likes it so it wasn't a total waste. My girls love that V8 splash stuff, why can't they make it in a good powder form?
I prefer my fruits and veggies the old fashioned way too!
that is sick- I'm glad you warned the rest of us!!
Greens to Go- isn't the most appealing name-
seriously, what were they thinking?
You are aware that Costco takes virtually anything back!
I would be right off to the local store location! Yuk.
Wow the box looks sooo cute...who would have known? I think maybe plug your nose and take the plunge.
That is pretty sickening. Not the potion separating. Ew.
Ew, ew, ew! I guess it was worth a shot...ha ha ha. It made for a funny post!
oh the labels you come up! so funny. not sure which one is my fave on this one but it might be "there's no accounting for people's tastes!"
you are the best!
wow, what WERE they thinking? that is so disgusting! really though, costco the best return place ever - they would take it back w/o even asking questions. that is, if marc decides he's just not that into it. great photo - but you ALWAYS have great photos.
Gross! It looks even worse than my mother-in-law's morning cup of beet/celery/carrot/fruit juice!
I don' think my kids could get that stuff down either. Kudos to Max, though. I think I'd have to mix it with a bunch of chocolate or something, which would defeat the purpose entirely!
I look at those all the time. Thanks for taking the plunge for us and giving the review. Doesn't look like I will be adding them to my list even though I could sure use more vegetables!
Nasty.
Notice how they didn't show a visual of what it looked like once it was IN your water bottle/glass/cup!
