Mom and Dad visit wrap-up

Mom and I did more errands after Christmas. Check out this fruit we found at the grocery store:

I love the way the sign comes right out and says it is creepy-looking!

We went to get a pedicure together. Pedicures are my favorite -- and all too rare -- way to be pampered! The hot paraffin, the leg massage, the toe stretching. I love it all. Not to mention the fact that my nails get painted without nail polish getting all over my toes the way it does when I do it myself...

There was a group of 4 older women there, celebrating the birthday of one of their group. Two of them had never had pedicures before, and they were exclaiming over the whole process. They were going to see a movie afterwards. I thought they were so cute.

We had to wear these stupid flimsy pedicure flip-flops out to the car, through the snow and slush! To make matters worse, we decided to stop at Walmart on the way home so Mom could look for some makeup she wanted. At least it was Walmart, eh?

The next day we went to Pier 1, TJMaxx, Bed Bath & Beyond, Burlington, and Michaels. (Mom really knows how to shop.) We found a darling lamp to go atop our new bookshelf at Pier 1.

Lucas wanted to do something special together on their last night here, so we made popcorn and watched Millions. I had only seen it once, long ago, so of course I couldn't remember it.

Dad worked right up until the last night and then was disappointed that he couldn't finish everything he would have liked to (like painting the front door!). The poor guy worked all through his vacation, although he claims it was a great vacation. Huh. You won't hear me complaining! (I have to do some cleaning up before I can post the results of all his work.)

I took them to the airport yesterday morning.

I always hate it when my parents leave. When I'm with them, I feel so supported. They do things for me, and they do things with me. Everything is more fun. Besides, it's fun to be the child again instead of just the parent. When they leave, I have to assume all the responsibility again.

Sure hope they can come back again soon...

You are a very blessed girl to have such generous, loving parents!

I love your parents--you come from a great gene pool! How fun that you girls got to get your feet done. My toes are so ugly, they resemble something more along the lines of the buddah hand fruit. Yikes!

How fun to get pepdicures! I would be sad that a visit like that has come to an end too!

Your parents sound an awful lot like mine & their visits an awful lot like ours as well. You put into words perfectly the way I feel when they are visiting too. We are blessed. :)
Sounds like a wonderful time for you all!

Those are so creepy cool! I love that your mom posed with them too :)

While I love having our parents here, it sure sounds nice to have a trip like this where you would pack so much into the time and do more than the day to day things that we do with mine. I love what you said about assuming the role of the child again. That would be so nice.

I so want to be a parent like your parents when I have adult children (not sure if Ken is up for working around their houses . . . )
Winter pedicures are tricky with the snow. I always think I should bring a good book and sit in the reception area for 2 hours afterwards so that I can just pu on my socks and shoes before I go home.

wonderful recap with great SPs!! i sometimes feel that, while my parents live right here, i tend to take the moments of running errands and doing house projects for granted.

You and your mother are so beautiful!
I love your relationship with both your mother and father, and how giving they are to you, and how grateful you are for them.
I want that for my children!
I love seeing examples of what I hope our family has in the future!
( ahh a pedicure)

I envy you and hope to use your folks' example to help me be a good adult parent.

You and your mom are beautiful...I love the SPT with your dad, too.

That's such a great description of how it feels when we're all together, "so supported," and "everything is more fun." It seems like even everyday minutiae becomes enjoyable--like grocery shopping and meal prep.

*sigh*

Thy Buddah fruit picture of me is pretty spooky!! Oh well, it's all in the name of sp documentation!!

Don't be sad. "You be the mother" to quote your too cute Grandmother!
