Sunday funny

Blue Bug was having trouble getting through Sacrament Meeting yesterday.

She was lying on the floor, getting her hair messed up, complaining that she doesn't like Bug Church, not whispering, and just generally being a nuisance.

A man sitting behind us was chuckling as he watched her. I think he was perhaps feeling nostalgic for the time when his kids were small.

Then, during a talk on reverence, mind you, she said pretty loudly, "Stop! You're annoying me!"
(This comment was directed at Marc, not the speaker.)

The man behind us just cracked up. I mean really cracked up, his face in his hands so as to not be a big distraction and/or encourage Blue Bug in her antics.

Marc and I just looked at each other. And we couldn't help laughing a bit as well.

There is a huge difference in parenting an oldest child and a youngest child.

p.s. I wore my new red heels and they were less than hugely successful. I have to get size 9 shoes to acommodate the extreme width of my feet, when really the length of my feet is more like a 7 1/2. These particular shoes have a very low-cut toe, which both makes them cute and more likely to fit my crazy feet. This combination made it very hard for me to keep said shoes on said crazy feet while walking. I don't even know why I try.

I like your labels on this one!

Eva's Blue Bug phase reminds me of when Brynlee was 3, and she was obsessed with elephants. She insisted that we call her Mrs. Jumbo at all times. If we introduced her as Brynlee, she would use her arm as a trunk and trumpet angrily at us. She wrote "Mrs. Jumbo" on everything she could find. It was a little bizarre, but so endearing, too.

Sorry about the shoes. I wore a new pair yesterday that I also had trouble keeping on, but I don't know why because they were my size. And they felt very comfortable at the store, but very *not* at church.

I have the exact same foot problem! Except mine are 6 1/2 length (I'm 5'9") and I have to get 8's in many shoes. And many dang cute shoes simply have to pass me by. It's very distressing.

Your blue bug is darling. I'd be hard pressed to keep my laughter in, too.

Your little Eva cracks me up. I'd love to have been sitting behind you in Sacrament meeting.
So glad you found shoes that you love. Red heels also they just sound so nice!

I often sit behind people who are trying to make the best of the things they're kids are doing, so I can relate to trying to hide my laughter. Blue bug is so articulate that the things she has to say must be an absolute wonder to people who don't know her.

Believe me, we can related to this kind of experience at church! I usually apologize to the people behind us. It will all be over soon (the restless kids, not church, mind you)

I also have some great red shoes- peep toe, patent leather. I love them. One time a guy at church asked me how many batteries they took. Hmpf! I have hardly worn them since. It made me feel like some floozy at church!!

I am just glad it isn't just our family who get to deal with these fun situations. We have a neighbor who delights when our children misbehave. He thinks it is so funny...he isn't married or have kids. Jason and I will have the same reward when our kids are older and he is dealing with our issues!

I just don't know what to say about Blue Bug! That name alone is just too funny! She is so dang cute and entertaining, well, I guess just about anyone would get a kick out of her antics! (except, occassionally a frustrated mother!)

And, I really relate to the shoe problem......my size 4.5 give me just about as much trouble! I keep trying to make size 5 work! It's amazing how many 5s are available, and how relatively little size 4.5s are available!! I'm always thinking I can put an innersoul (or 2 or 3...seriously!) in them and make them fit! Sometimes if can buy boots that are too big and wear really thick socks! But generally speaking, the pumps are the worse...they just come right off! If they have a Mary Jane strap, sometimes they will stay on,but they look like I'm wearing dress up shoes! Yet, still, I continue to purchase shoes that are in the wrong size....why??? All I can say is, someone out there with a size 5 shoe could have a great benefactor when I finally give up.

Now, post a photo of these new shoes! I will say that I was extrememly disappointed when you actually succombed to giving up such shoes!

I can totally relate to this post, since I have two little ones that are often restless during sacrament meeting!

Thanks for giving me hope and for reminding me that there is a huge difference in parenting an oldest child and a youngest child...sometimes we just need to relax a bit and make the best of it!

i always love to look at the labels you post-- they are as amusing as the post some times!

have you tried inserts (i am sure you have) to help make them feel smaller (and keep them on your feet when walking)

blue bug is just too cute and i have been the parent of and a witness of similar at Mass. you just have to laugh.

Oh, Blue Bug! You are so delightful. And I must say, the fact that you two are holding back your laughter shows a great sense of humor. What lovely parents!

Oh, poor annoyed Blue Bug. That is hilarious--what a funny little Bug :)

We often get comments from people in church about Henry. I'm glad he entertains them. Perhaps they'd like to sit with him next time:)

Sorry about the shoes. My feet have grown with each pregnancy and I'm not even sure what size I am anymore.

I'm really proud of you for wearing the red pumps. Way to go!

I really do not miss trying to entertain small bugs in church. Sarah didn't have such a great time this week, though, and she's ten! It was our Regional Stake Conference broadcast from SLC and she and John were passing a game on paper back and forth, to the point of annoyance. When I squelched the game, she became rather indignant and started having a little tantrum of sorts on the floor. Fortunately, we were sitting on a bench and she was up against the wall so I don't think it was too distracting to others. Somehow a ten-year-old acting up in church is not as "cute" as a three-year-old.

I am loving the Blue Bug thing... everything she says is funny to me. I would love to sit behind you in church.

Robyn's comment about the shoes made me laugh out loud... and want to call her to see who said it. Sorry your feet didn't like yours...

Sorry about the shoes. It is amazing what turns up in real life that doesn't turn up during the try-on.

oh man, sometimes i want to stand up and yell this in sacrament meeting too - and not at marc mind you!

you gotta love her honesty! the truth is, no one cares, and if they do they just need to get over it. sacrament meeting is NO easy task.
