wouldn't you know it?

I went to bed late last night after book club (1:00).
Then I couldn't get to sleep (very unusual).
Then I was awake A LOT during the night (not kid-related, also very unusual).

This morning I feel like the walking dead. And my back hurts.

So I went to drop Eva off at preschool wearing my pajamas.

I regretted it pretty much as soon as we were on our way, but I didn't turn back for fear of being late.

So wouldn't you know it? Today was the day that Eva decided she was too scared to walk down the stairs - even though she definitely did want to go to preschool - and she wanted me to carry her.

I couldn't do it, both because my back hurt and because I'm trying to nudge her gently along to a little more independence.

Today's the day she had a tantrum in the driveway, attracting the notice of all the other kids and their parents. While I'm wearing my pajamas and have bare feet.

There was a sweet dad that looked my way and said, "You're doing a great job! Keep it up!"

Bless that dad.

(She ended up not only walking down the stairs but doing it without even holding my hand! Will wonders never cease.)

What in the world? Trouble sleeping and back pain? Not good. I'm sorry about that and hope it's temporary.

On the bright side, your PJs are cute and you don't put your hair in curlers.

Of course, today was the day...

I love the comment from Marc.... Jimmy would not call my pjs cute... in fact he once asked me to throw some away!

I hope Eva had a great day, you took a nap (since you were already dressed for it), and that your back is feeling better. (I hope it isn't something major... how are the knees?)

I just love Marc's comment! The trouble sleeping is so weird and the back pain! Sheesh. I hope you were able to rest your back and your brain while she was in class!

How many times have I driven my children to school in pajamas? A googillion! And how many times have I said to myself over and over, "I hope I don't get caught. Please don't let anyone see me!?" :) Soo glad your little gal rose to the occasion and entered school successfully. And yes, bless that dad!

Hope your back feels better soon and that tonight is more restful.

It's like they know that you don't want to be seen, and do everything in their power to make sure everyone notices! Sheesh! At least you got to go home to an empty house. I hope you got a nap in!

I am sure your pjs were cuter than most of the clothes i wear so be glad you have such amazing taste in clothes.
i often think i should keep a pair of flip flops in my trunk for all the times i leave the house barefoot

I feel your pain.

Everytime I go to Target in my old track suit I run into someone I haven't seen for years. I can just imagine the later conversations "so I ran into Elisa the other day. She was doing good...kind of ratty looking, lots of chocolate and coke in her cart."

That is just the way it is. If I am put together, organized, and beautiful, no one ever gets to see it. But the minute I am in a rush, with no make-up, hair in a ponytail, spit-up on my shoulder, and pushing a grocery cart with a crying toddler in it I run into 5 old friends from high school. Yup, that is the way it goes.

I got your birthday gift in the mail. Thank you so much! The gift tags are adorable. Are they a result of a Creative Friday? I am going to tell myself they are! That would tickle me.

i hope you got some sleep after you dropped her off! night woes are no fun at ALL. i love that marc can see the bright side to this - what a keeper!

p.s. all the other moms were thinking, "oh my gosh, i'm so glad i'm not the only one!"

That sounds like my kind of luck- the day I wear my pjs I have to get out of the car! Ha, so funny. Don't you just love those sweet children? I believe it was you who coined the term "Smotherhood". I hope that your back is feeling better- you should go for a good massage, that always helps me. Good luck sleeping!

Oh, that is ALWAYS when something happens. I'm just surprised you didn't get locked out of your car.
