The girl could not get enough, prompting me to wonder once again: how is it possible to eat so little and yet still have so much energy?
We were out there for at least half an hour, and I just kept taking photos. 3/4 of them didn't turn out, but it was great that she got so used to the camera, she didn't even notice it anymore. She was entertaining me the whole time with her chatter and questions.
This was taken right after she looked toward the setting sun and asked me how the sun goes down. Apparently it's a question fraught with drama and import, but she recovered quickly and went on to be a kangaroo with a pouch.
On Tuesday morning, I took her to get her second haircut. She loved getting her hair washed (my personal favorite).
Even though I thought Sharolyn was working quickly, Eva was tiring of the experience, so she got her lollipop before the haircut was finished.
She still wanted to have long hair, so we got 3 inches cut off and some shaping. She's happy with the result.
She complained at the salon about her stomach hurting, but I had no idea what that was about. Shortly after we got home it became apparent that she had the stomach flu. Babies and toddlers vomiting is the worst thing in my world -- I just can't wait for them to figure out how to use appropriate receptacles.
When I picked up Lucas from school, I informed him that Eva was sick. His response was, "Oh no! She can't be sick on her birthday!" I was very pleased that he chose to respond in that way, rather than whining that he couldn't play with a friend after school, as I expected. Hooray for sibling power!
She was really sick until Wednesday morning, when things started looking up, and not a moment too soon. Since she was able to start eating a bit, I decided I would go ahead and make cupcakes for her little family celebration.
Jessie sent Eva this hand-made robot. Eva has been obsessed with robots for some time now, and just loves to talk in a robotic voice. This gift is a huge hit! It was the first one she opened, and so the robot helped her open all remaining gifts, and she even wanted robot to say a little blessing on the cupcakes... she had to be content with Robot folding her arms for the prayer.
Grandma Susan sent many many new clothes and shoes, and this was Eva's reaction:
Yep, she's a girly girl. She wanted to wear one of the new pairs of shoes right away, and started calling herself a "fancy queen". Jill gave her a new Play-Doh set, which helped to ease the boredom of a sick day, and she also got some Mrs. Potato Head accessories.
I just can't believe it -- my baby is three!
{Last night, when I got home oh-so-late after the blog party, she was coughing and coughing. I went into her room, and she said with the cutest little voice, "I need some cough medicine." I don't know why it was so endearing, but I didn't mind having to stay up even later with her. I guess I'm smitten.}

That HAIR! She is your daughter for sure!
I didn't know she loved robots. Taking in a robot voice? That is pretty cute. Your kids are so creative, with you and Marc for parents, its a given, but really, she is a doll.
Happy 3rd Eva!
I hope she is all better tomorrow!
She's a cutie! hope she feels all better soon. I love that robot!
She's such a character and is so enchanting, it's no wonder you're smitten.
I can't believe she's 3 already!! Seriously. Even seeing her at least once a week, hearing her in the background on the phone all the time and having been around since she was just an idea, and yet it's still hard to believe she could be 3!
Does this mean I have to stop calling her the baby? So sad.
She is definitely looking old and way too cute!!!
Thanks for the post.
She is SO cute! I love the hair and I can't believe she's 3 already--SO cute! I willingly join the ranks of the smitten.
She is darling, darling, darling. Poor girl had to get sick on her birthday? Too bad. But at least she was sick with great looking hair!
I want some of that hair! How sweet for a mom to be smitten with her baby like that.
LOVE that robot!!
Oh my goodness, she is looking so grown-up and beautiful! Love the photos of her at the salon. Too cute!
That's adorable that she is into robots!
Sign me up as Smitten! I just love it when you recount your conversations with her. I can hardly wait to see what will come out of her mouth next. Wish we lived closer.
WOW- that is fantastic hair! When I leave Sharolyn, I don't look that good. harumph.
I'm sure you can't believe she is three, but I look at her tiny size and it's not so unbelievable for me.
Sorry she was sick- I'm with Lucas, you shouldn't be sick on your birthday!!
Oh, what a sweet little thing! I can't believe she's three already. I totally want to hear her talking the robot in her robot voice. I think you need to post a video. . .
what a beautiful tale of her birhtday...sooo sad she fell sick...that is no fun, but she looks adorable on the pictures and I loved the reaction for the picture finding out about the clothes....wow jessie is talented...cute robot.
I definitely agree with Amy that you should post a video of the robot voice. That robot from Jessie is so cute!
Happy Birthday to Eva!
That hand made robot stuffie is adorable. Eva is also adorable, so so pretty (and I'm admiring that red shirt of hers).
Wow- her hair is beautiful! I can't believe she is three- and Bella is about to be three! She is such a cute little thing. I just took out a bunch of summer clothes and have some of the dresses that were Eva's and they totally fit Kaylee already. Love it!
That robot is perfect for Eva.
