It seems the weather forecast predicted snow every night this week. After so many clear mornings, I stopped anticipating it. But when I opened my eyes today, I could just tell -- even though my shutters were closed, everything just looked... white. On mornings like this, I always proclaim it to be a Winter Wonderland. I don't care if it's unbearably cheesy, or if my kids tire of hearing it, I can't help myself. I think today was particularly beautiful, because the snowfall continued until about 4:30 p.m. And what better way to commence the month of December?
I marvel every time at the lengthy process of getting ready to go out in the snow...
Because it is Saturday, we were lucky enough to have Landon over to play, and all three of my kids were so excited (although they had wished Whitney would join them as well). The boys played in our yard until they were cold and wet, came in for hot chocolate and a brief thawing out session, and then went back out for sledding and such for about 4 more hours! (A second round of hot chocolate followed.)
Eva's mittens just would not stay on, to her extreme frustration. She tried making snowballs with bare hands, but eventually had to admit defeat and come inside. This video is funny just because it shows how much she resembles the Sta-Puf marshmallow man in her snow gear.

Oh Eva! Could she possibly be any cuter?!?!
I loved that it snowed yesterday- like it closed out fall once and for all. Perfect wonderland indeed.
I too am amazed at what it takes to get geared up and then the subsequent process to rapidly undo it all when the urge to go potty strikes!
Her "walking died!" Too funny. I dread the pile of sodden wooly things (that sort of smell like wet dog) that end up by the door after playing in the snow, but I love the Winter Wonderland effect outside. Philly is currently getting icy rain that I hope will not delay my flight to Denver later this afternoon. It's definitely more fun to enjoy Winter Wonderland without travel plans.
That video is SO CUTE!! And I agree--it was a total Winter Wonderland and perfect. It was so much fun to wake up to snow!!
What a perfect day. I loved hearing your laugh in the video and watching Eva toddle around.
I shouldn't be surprised that Eva has the cutest snow-gear ever, and yet I am. The video doesn't do her ensemble justice and it doesn't show her pink/leopard boots or the heart zipper of her jacket...so cute!
I was giddy to wake up on December 1st to find a winter wonderland too. It's a perfect way to start December and sets the mood so nicely. Thanks for having Landon over, he had the best day ever.
oh what a wonderful surprise...she is sooo cute
I'm an absolute sucker for snow - hence I was determined to get married in December, and I did. Paul's mum died many years ago and I never met her, but 2 days before our wedding it started to snow and by the morning of the wedding it was deep and covering EVERYTHING. Paul said he was sure it was her present to us.
Eva's just adorable. I love her pom-pom swinging in her face all the time!
Wow, it was in the low 80s here today.
I am so jealous of your wonderland! We got a few gorgeous flakes on the 1st, none stuck though. Your kids are dedicated - and Eva, so cute!
Wasn't it a great winter day!? My kids did the same thing as yours. It made for me being able to get soo much accomplished!
How cute is that video?? I'm a little jealous of your winter wonderland! The local news had us primed for 3-5 inches (tons for us!), and there were flakes (big gorgeous ones) in the sky, but that's it.
That video is so cute. What a fun age that is. It was fun to hear your voice also.
SHe reminded me of the little brother on The Christmas Story. If she fell over, she wouldn't be able to get up! SOooooo cute! And I love her snow hat!
It was such an awesome way to welcome in December! Sounds like a blissful day of play and cocoa!
Also, I'm with you on the winter wonderland thing! ;)
Eva is a precious doll in those clothes! Too funny.
Your first snow is perfect. I can barely remember wanting to get that cold and play in the snow that long although I know I did. I'm glad they had a good day.
Oh, *big sigh* I am so jealous. Absolutely green with jealousy. I would settle for a nippy 50 degrees here...but no, the sun just keeps on shining. Grrr. So happy for your little ones...a snow day on a Saturday...all day to just play in it.
This gives me a bit of respite from the pressures of the day! I feel like my walking has died for sure!
Hopefully, Marc was able to get the shots he was hoping for!
So cute. We loved waking up to the snow too. I love the term winter wonderland, I've never really used it besides singing but I'm gonna start.
It sounds like you did indeed had a "winter wonderland"! How fabulous for you that the kids played out so long in the snow. Were you able to accomplish alot??
Eva is so cute! This picture reminds me of my Hailey when she was 2 years old. Her snowsuit made her look like the girl in Willy Wonka that ate the blueberry gum. So funny!
I sure hope my walking doesn't die any time soon.
I think that is so funny. Ava's personallity really comes out in this clip.
I was so excited about the snow the other day. (: It just made me giddy all day! Love the pictures of your kids - I wish I could have gone out and played in the snow!
I thought I would miss the snow this year but oddly, I'm not. The last time I had a Christmas without snow was on my mission in Swaziland! It is a bit hard to get into the "Christmas Spirit" without the chilly weather but I'm not missing the icy roads and endless bundling up and down. Maybe I will next year.
