Eva and I went to Amy H.'s house today to play. We were both excited -- me, because Amy offered to help me with a book project; Eva, because I told her she could play with Kaitlin and Alex.
This shot accurately portrays the shyness and reticence they actually showed one another. After about an hour, they did start playing together, but they didn't always see eye to eye, and there were several crying/screaming incidents.
Amy, holding her head in frustration over cute little Alex (in the background), who has a shrill little shriek which seems specially designed to galvanize its hearers into action. Very effective!
So, conditions were not ideal. We were reminded of the bookbinding class Amy held for us, when the dads were taking care of all the children -- it was very different from today. But you know what? I still had fun! We did have some quiet time without requests for drinks, snacks, movies, etc. and we had some good conversation. Plus, we made some good progress on my book! Thanks, Amy, for giving up a good portion of your day to help me, and for allowing a little extra chaos into your world today.

Oh dear, that last photo of Amy communicates your day perfectly. I'm surprised you managed to accomplish anything with 3 little kids with strong personalities running around. I can't wait to see your finished book.
The photo of Kaitlin and Eva speaks volumes of how much you were able to get done stress free. Dang kids messing with creative time right before Christmas! Amy is a great friend to help you out, I can't wait to see finished book either.
Book-binding is like a stratospheric level of crafting for me. I can only look on you two in awe!
I'm glad you still got something out of it all, despite the histrionics from the little ones.
It's quite telling that, as I've tried to craft throughout Isla's babyhood, she now regularly puts her finger up to people and says, 'Just one mimite!' - now who could she have got that from?!
Good job making anew book. I need to call Amy and do one, because I don't think I remember a thing. Sorry the kids weren't too cooperative but I'm glad you still had fun.
wow how nice to get together, although it is sad and frustrating when the kids do not cooperate. Sometimes I want to ring around their necks...silly adorable things...can't wait to see your finished book.
Hee- like that last one of Amy. Alex does have this high pitched cry that is unmatched. Hope you get your book finished soon and share it!
That Eva is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.
