Our carpet -- the one we ordered -- is finally here, in our home, installed! After another minor debaucle with the carpet store, the installation was completed yesterday. (You'd think they'd be going out of their way to get everything right this time, but noooooo, they were still 5 hours late, just to inconvenience me further...)
I was rather at a loss as to how to photograph carpet! I don't know that this is an accurate representation, but it is a nice medium caramel color.
My mother pointed out that it would look much less 70s if they would not upholster the sides of the stairs, as had previously been done. I requested that they leave it off there, and I can see that it will look much better, but it's going to require some work removing staples, patching holes, and painting.

damn keepoopoo didn't save my comment, so some of my enthusiasm may be stifled. It went something like this:
Oh! I can't believe it! I know most people probably won't care about seeing this, but I need more photos! I want to see over by the plantation shutters byu the basket where there were those bad spots, and your stairs, the threshold to the kitchn, under the kitchen table, and maybe an arial of your living room! I'm so excited!
okay, for some inexplicable reason my computer often just freezes, like it just did. I am not very patient, and a teensy bit intense, so I was growling and otherwise exclaiming in agony, when Bella said very sweetly: 'Mama, are you cra-azy?' In that upward lilt she does.
Yes. Yes I am.
very pretty color. Yea! so glad your whole carpet ordeal is over with now.
LOVE the color! I would also like to see a broader expanse, please. It looks so rich and warm.
Maybe mice don't like the smell of new carpet.
Good to catch up with your family. They look good. Can I just say there is nothing better than new carpet? You can roll around on it, lie on it, etc. without wondering what the crap is underneath it!
yay for the new carpet. i am sure you are more than thrilled to have the adventure nearly completed!
Yippeee, what a beautiful color.
Yippee!!!! time to celebrate now! Finally, I can't believe what you had to go through to get it! Glad it's finally all done.
I want to come see it! I am so happy it is in and done and you love it! The color looks so great and warm. I hope the hutch gets reinforced speedy quick so you can get it all back to feeling like it should.
How exciting! There's not much better than NEW carpet that YOU picked.
Your SPT pics are darling.
So glad to see that you got your carpet. Love the color!
I LOVE the carpet color. It looks like a nice esay color that goes with everything. Too bad it was such a pain to get it put in. Glad you finally have it!
I'm so happy that the correct carpet is now installed. That's actually the realization of a dream for you and Marc isn't it? Wow.
It's too bad about the extra work with the sides of the stairs, but I'm sure it will look fabulous when they're finished.
Your china is so pretty, I enjoyed looking at it today while it was on your counter since I always sit with my back to it I don't get to see it.
what a relief!! i agree - more pictures!!
Hurray - finally! I think you are right about the stairs - hopefully the extra time will be worth it there, too!
Hurray! Glad you finally got the carpet you wanted! I'd love to see a pic of the stairs finished. You have beautiful taste in decorating!
oh wow...the color is goregous and i think you did beautifully in taking it through the ottoman, which is a darker hue and texture, it just looks soo good together. congratulations. i must confess i love those earth tones, makes everything soo much warm and inviting. and there is no better smell than new carpet, at least to me, i just love it. when we moved to our townhouse i wanted to upgrade the carpet, but we accorded after we put our marble...well it took 5 years to do so...so was soooo happy to get the yiacky carpet out...that we really never took care of it, because we knew it wasn't permanaent, but still using no shoes in the home, it still was pretty discusting....so happy for you guys, i know this must feel soo good to you. wow finally.
It looks wonderful, and what a relief to *finally* have the carpet you actually want. I think your stairs will look great that way -- it will be worth the forced friendship you will have with a pair of pliers.
And, really 5 hours late??
Enjoy the new carpet fuzz phase!
Congratulations on new carpet! It's such a treat, isn't it?
Why would someone carpet up the side of the stair treads? I've never heard of that. People did some straaaange things in the 70s, didn't they?
The colour is lovely, by the way.
I love the color of your new carpet. It looks great! I get so annoyed when service people are as late as 5 hours. 45 minutes, fine but hours... a call would be nice people.
Finally, the right carpet. It must be nice to have it done (understatement). I love the warm, caramel color. I can see it will go well with all the rich colors you have in your home. Can't wait to see an after photo of the newly organized craft room. What a great shelf!
Yay for new carpet! Such a great warm color! I love it!
Oh I am envious! I want beautiful new carpet! Griffin still drools HORRIBLY and when dirt gets on it it leaves nasty stains. There is literally a drool trail stain from the living room to his room!
I love that your mother always has such a keen sense of style and decor. I would love to meet her.
So happy for you and your carpet FINALLY!
So cute! Both you and your sister have the cutest homes OF ALL TIME! I love love love that carpet.
Wow! It looks like just about everyone LOVES the carpet! Too bad Timm isn't around to help with the handyman needs!!! I think I'll definitely likeit better without the upholstered side trim! I'll be sending the new fabric samples tomorrow.
Looks great!
Hurray for new carpet. I have always enjoyed walking on it for the first time. Despite what you've gone through to get it installed it must be so nice to finally have...congrats.
What pretty dishes you have!
