frustration

Today just hasn't been my day.

Our contact at the carpet store called at 11:00 this morning to say they had our carpet in. Great! Then he offered to set up an installation for next Tuesday.

Ummm... I had been told by his associate that they were coming at noon today. I even called last night to double-check. We had just finished moving all of the furniture and every little thing off the floor from our living room, dining area, halls, stairs, and closets. And I had just finished vacuuming said areas very thoroughly. The kitchen was packed with furniture, we couldn't walk in our bedrooms, we even had to move furniture out on our deck.

I had made arrangements for my kids to go home with friends. And we are having a birthday party here tomorrow afternoon!

Evidently they have another customer named Oliver and they're the ones who got their carpet today.

I hung around all afternoon, waiting to see if they could find an installer to come today. No deal. They claim they are coming tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, our house is largely unusable! (I sure hope it doesn't rain tonight.)

We had a carpet picnic for dinner. The kids seemed to think it was fabulous. Eva spilled her Frosty, creating some new stains, but hey -- we're getting rid of this carpet!

As we were finishing dinner, who should call but the Space Center (where we are taking the kids tomorrow afternoon for Lucas's party)? Due to an unforeseen glitch, they have not installed the controls they need in the spaceship simulator, and quite likely won't be ready for tomorrow afternoon. Come again? I scheduled this party 6 weeks ago!! They said that if it is not functional they will give the kids a free planetarium show and reschedule their space mission. I'm sorry, but that is not the same at all, and not what the kids are looking forward to. I am so irritated about it! Who's to say that all the kids will be able to come to Lucas's Birthday Party Part II?? I'm just hoping they can somehow get it working by the time we get there...

On another note, I got this lovely second-degree burn yesterday while baking up the rest of my cookies. It still burns like crazy. And I finished Harry Potter today. I think that added to my foul mood! I didn't want it to be over. I'm thinking the only remedy for this day is to end it, so I'm headed to bed.

I HATE it when that happens!

Youch, Michelle. Another consolation is that this day can NEVER return. It's over and it can't come back.

Birthday Party part II made me smile...it's seems there is a sequel to everything these days :)

oh man that is terrible, specially when you have made plans so far in advance. so sorry to hear about the burn and the furniture and no new carpet. maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day, because there is nothing better than new carpet and the smell, at least for me, that should make up for some of the things...and hopefully they will have everything running for tomorrow's party...hang in there

It's days like this that make me want to run in an open field and just scream my guts out.

I can not believe the carpet thing- I would be LIVID! They just can't do that to you. What can I do to help tomorrow to ease the stress? I can take Eva or come and help move furniture or set up tables outside for an outside party...

And the burn- that is just insult to injury. You need a day off.

What a nightmare! They need to do something to make this hassle right with you guys. What a mess.

What is up with the space center thing? How did Lucas take the news? I'm sure the boys will be happy to give it another go, but what a pain for you.

That burn is nasty, I hope it heals quickly!

P.S. It's so weird to see your living room so empty like that. The possibilities of a fresh start are rather exciting aren't they? Do you have any plans to rearrange?

It sounds like you should have stayed in bed and left the phone off the hook. Yikes. What a nightmare. Hope all works out with the party. I can imagine the huge level of disappointment.

What a nightmare for you and your family. I hate it when I am disapointed by things that are out of my control.

It will be all worth it in the end. Can't wait to see it all put back together.

Ouch! I'm the queen of baking burns. Far too many scars on my hands. The worst was when I managed (how?!) to get a second degree burn on an unmentionable part of my upper body. Oh my. No bras for a while. Highly embarrassing.

I like the comment "another consolation is that this day can NEVER return"...only room for up. You will/may look back & laugh when you see pictures of the furniture piled up in the kitchen at a later date.

Michelle!
I can't believe the carpet people or the space center! What gives??

I hope it all works out, I'd be seriously upset.

I finished Harry Potter last night too, I didn't want it to be over either and I can't wait to get all 7 movies and watch them back to back!

I hope they got to you today. It must be so frustrating living with all your furniture crowded in your kitchen and bedrooms.
Good idea to have a carpet picnic, who wouldn't love that especially with a Frosty!

ARGH! Lame lame lame. The day my carpet came was not a good day either. I love the carpet now though...it was worth it.

I am sick for you! Totally, 100% ill for you! This is not right on many levels! First the carpet, then the party then a burn? Honestly. What is up with that? You even called the night before!?!! What are you going to do about the party? Geesh! I am so sorry!
Your burn looks nasty. They take forever to cool down!
Hope tomorrow proves to be a better day!

Ouch of all kinds. I can't believe they did that to you. I think you deserve a discount! What a pain.

Sorry about your burn. I hope it feels better soon. Hopefully some aloe may help?

Yikes, Michelle. Bed, definitely a good idea. I can't wait to see your finished carpet, and I love that you documented your house-in-progress.
Can't wait to hear about the party! Oh - and though I read Happy Potter right when it came out, I am still bummed. I may have to read them all again!

I could laugh, cry, scream and yell with you.

I hate days that end with unresolved frustration. I hope tomorrow is better.

Your title "Frustration" really doest sum up your day. I am so sorry to see that your house is unusable. Hope the party works out some how. Can't believe they would let you plan on something for so long only to call you at the last min and disappoint.

Hope your having a brighter and happier day after all it is Friday!

Happy Day!
