partial resolution

My frustration has abated -- somewhat. The carpet layers came yesterday at 10:00 a.m. Eva and I escaped to Jill's house. Fortunately, Marc stayed here (holed up in our bedroom), because when they were unrolling the new carpet to bring it in, he noticed that they brought THE. WRONG. COLOR.

He immediately called the salesperson we've been working with, who came over and saw the mistake in person. He instructed the carpet layers to install the carpet anyway, since we couldn't really live with the pad and nails situation for an indefinite period of time.

The job that they estimated at 4-5 hours took 8 and a half. All for carpet that will get ripped out again as soon as the right carpet arrives! Such a waste.

We had to have Lucas's party guests gather outside on a blanket for donuts and presents. Good thing they didn't care! They were climbing trees and running around outside, oblivious. We went to the Space Center and the director told me that, although they hadn't been able to install the junior controls yet, they were going to go ahead and let the boys do their mission anyway (with a couple of staff members along to help them out). I was afraid it might prove to be too difficult for them, but they all seem to have had a great time, and -- let's face it -- I'm just thrilled to not have to do it all over again next week!

We finally got home around 7:15 and started moving all of our furniture back where it belongs. Marc and I were both completely exhausted, but at least we can move about freely now. I'm sure this will all be pretty exciting once we get our actual carpet...

Today Eva and I escaped again to Jill's for Creative Friday. It was good to get away for awhile. It turned into an impromptu party with Claudia and Jenn there also. (Jenn set a dangerous precedent by letting Eva sit on her lap and "help" her. Pretty cute.) I didn't accomplish much, but did enjoy the usual good snacks and conversation -- a healing balm for whatever ails you! We left early so Eva could take a much-needed nap. I just may have to go and join her.

That is carpet craziness. I can't believe you have to go through that all again. I am glad you had somewhere to go for respite.

How bad is the mistaken color? They would probably cut you some kind of awesome deal to not have to go through it all over again. I am so jealous of your Creative Fridays at Jill's house--it sounds like a healing balm indeed.

The wrong day, the wrong color! Ack. What a frustrating mess. And to have to do it all over again, as well. I'm glad Creative Friday was a respite for you, and I do hope you got your nap!

That is just nuts about your carpet arriving so not as you ordered it, especially given all you have been through this week!!
I would LOVE to get new carpet but one, Griffin still drools and it stains the carpet where he drools and then it gets walked on with dirty feet and two, I don't know if I want to put up the $ given that we probably won't live here longer than another year or so. (I hope, we are getting cramped.)Until then I'll have to get the new carpet experience through you!

I can't believe your carpet nightmare except that I feel like I was a part of it since I got the play-by-play as the story was unfolding.

I was delighted to have you and Eva over two days in a row and had a good time. I'm sorry you didn't accomplish much, surprisingly I did.

Landon had a great time at Lucas' party to the space mission was a huge success. He has already planned his party and wants it there next year.

Oh. My. Honus! I can't believe that they installed the wrong color only to be ripped up and trashed. What is up with all this carpet mishaps?! Bright blue? Pink? Dying to hear the color of the wrong carpet and how long you must live without your choice. I hope that they give you a serious cash back on your installation.
Fun for creative Friday! I think that it is wonderful not only to have that creative outlet - but to spend the day with fun friends - that is just a huge lift to ones day!
Good news on the birthday bash! Phew!

What a carpet pain! I'm impressed with your good attitude about it. Eased up by all the great friend time I'm sure!

The thought of a redo party was frightening. I'm so glad they treated you well and that the boys had a good time.

I can't believe it is the wrong color- but I too wonder how wrong and if they would cut you a killer deal to keep it...then maybe you could do the bedrooms or something too.

Awesome to get to crash and Jill's for both the distraction and the company. She is a great host!

Eva looks so pretty on Jenn's lap. How nice that you were able to go to Jills for a nice distraction and good company.

I can't tell you how many times I have been planning on a home project getting done to find out the person is not coming or something is wrong. It is the worst, especially when your so excited about it. It is nice you had Jill's house to run to.
