our lists

It took awhile, but everyone finally got on board with my refrigerator lists. No one has added anything new for several days, so I guess we're finished. Here are the results:

What we miss about Paris:

baguettes (Michelle)
built-in exercise (Marc)
movie premieres with director and actors (Marc)
raclettes (Max)
the Eiffel Tower out the window (Max)
boulangeries on the street (Max)
seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle (Michelle)
easy access to great chocolate (Marc)
Schweppes & Orangina (Lucas)
42 oz. drink = a scandal (Marc)
frequent trips to the park & sand toys (Eva)
easier silverware to put away (Lucas)
no church calling (Marc)
great photo ops every day (Michelle)
eclairs (Max)

What we appreciate about being home:

AIR CONDITIONING!! (Michelle)
garbage disposal (Michelle)
Netflix (Marc)
back to my own bed (Max)
Wii!! (Lucas)
trampoline (Lucas)
slide (Eva)
peanut butter sandwiches (Lucas)
my hair is not so frizzy!! (Michelle)
Jack-the-dog (Marc)
plastic plates (Max)
42 oz. drink for $.69 (Marc)
Boston cream pie (Max)
chocolate-less fitness cereal (Max) (who knew?)
podcasts of NPR (Marc)
icemaker (Michelle)
DVR (Marc)
great water pressure (Michelle)
friends (Michelle)

I don't know how much thought everyone put into this little project of mine, but I'm calling it good. I think most of us agree with the things that everyone else wrote. It makes me happy that we could think of so many reasons to be grateful -- to have been in Paris, and now to be home.

I skimmed over this list today at your house and it is very interesting now to see who missed what instead of it just being general. Such a great idea!

I'm happy to see that "friends" made your list of things you like about being home, and I'm surprised that the Paris list didn't include "not having Jack hairs on everything."

Wonderful, as usual....it's very late, good night!

love this idea. do you think it helped (at least a little?) to do the list?

i have a hard time settling back into routine after a vacation so i can't imagine how it would be after an extended stay somewhere.

Funny you mentioned the size of sodas. A large at McD's here is like 300 mL I think. It's tiny! A small is literally the size of a child's Happy Meal drink. I guess it's not a bad thing but it still cracks me up. Next time I have a Schweppes I will think of Marc!

I love that you (and your family) can appreciate things both places...and I'm with you on the AC. Probably the thing I missed most living over there during the summer.

I love this exercise - I think I could use it for many life transitions. What a perfect timer shot of your family's current tastes and desires!

What a weird and wonderful selection! It's funny what's come out of all that.

I didn't realise Paris was making your hair frizzy. That must be a pain. I don't know, having straight hair - but I imagine the hair thing must be quite a deciding factor! ;-P
