Interesting challenge for Self-Portrait Tuesday this week. I can't say that I have any lucky charms. I'm not even all that sure I believe in luck. And I certainly don't dress up for St. Patrick's Day, it just doesn't mean anything to me. So I thought, "maybe I have a talisman". But when I looked it up to verify its meaning, it pretty much means the same thing as lucky charm -- so I guess not.
But, as this is SPT, I decided to take photos of some objects that feel like a part of me, and that make me happy:
It should be noted that, thanks to the good taste and generosity of my mother, I have a fairly extensive jewelry collection. I love jewelry. However, for reasons unknown to me, I seem to latch on to one basic pair of earrings, and one favorite necklace that I wear almost every day. (The current incarnations are probably #4 or 5 in my history of jewelry attachment.)
Call it a rut. Call it laziness. I'm not sure what to chalk it up to, except that they seem to go with everything and they make me feel somewhat cute.
To get back to the subject of luck, I really do feel like a lucky girl. Fortunate. Blessed.
I am in fairly good health. I have been married to an interesting man for nearly 16 years. I have 3 wonderful children who challenge me every day. I have a great family. I have many fulfilling relationships. I know what it feels like to be loved unconditionally. I have true friends. I have a car that runs reliably well. I get to be a stay-at-home mom. I get to live here, and now, where I have indoor plumbing and all the convenient appliances I need. I have faith -- in God, and in the fundamental goodness of people. I have opportunities to develop my talents. I have my computer back! I have the use of all of my senses. I have the ability to design a life I love.
Yep, I'm a lucky girl.

After reading your list I would I definitely agree, you are a lucky girl.
I am with you...I wear the same jewlery everyday and love it.
Glad you are such a lucky girl. Luck is not in objects but in our hearts.
You have such a wonderful way with words and an ability to express yourself that seems natural and easy. There's nothing wrong with being a lucky girl. What a sweet post.
It has been really fun reading all the SPT posts...
It sounds like you are lucky & blessed...indeed!
It's so nice to have you back! I don't think of your jewelry selections as a rut, I think of them as your signature pieces. It's nice to have favorites and it's nice to change things up on special occasions too. You've got the best of both world's going on.
Very nice. Love it ;) ciao
Those are beautiful pieces. It is fun how these spt's spur memories and reasons to be grateful.

I loved your last line "I have the ability to design a life I love." It made me cry, chalk it up to pregnancy, but I loved that. I call that lucky! By the way- missed you terribly.
Don't you love it when you realize how lucky you really are? And I too have my few favorite jewelry pieces--my hoop earrings and my rhinestone star necklace!
