Marc's parents came down to see the kids in their costumes yesterday afternoon, and this forced me to finally take pictures outside in the daylight. Usually in all the chaos I snap a few quick photos right before the kids leave to go trick-or-treating, indoors, bad lighting, etc. Good grief, you'd think I was a first timer or something.
My little Harry Potter. He wanted to look like Harry Potter, but he certainly did not want to take off his hood or wear a tie. Let's not get crazy. He did, however, want to find more reasons to use the costume makeup, so he decided to darken his eyebrows. By himself.
Max still hadn't decided on a costume until a few days before Halloween. Then he told us he wanted to be a monk. I never know what he'll come up with next. Marc printed him out an illuminated manuscript page so he could pretend to be working on it. I wonder if his choice was influenced by the fact that we recently discovered he can whistle two different notes at once through the big gaps in his mouth. (I had told him that there are certain monks that can sing two notes at once.) It's a very unique talent, let me tell you, and he practices it nonstop, much to my dismay.
If anyone was going to get Eva to wear her hat, it would be Grandma. It worked for a few seconds, but even Grandma can't break her iron will, and she had to take it off again.
As usual, my jack-o-lantern photos turned out blurry. How does anyone manage to do it without a tripod? I'm challenged in this area. But I just had to document Max's haunted house. We spray-painted the pumpkin black.
Jessie brought Bella over to go trick-or-treating. She had very strong feelings against wearing her lion costume. I can see why she would want to forego the hood, but why boycot a long cuddly-soft vest? I guess I was lucky Eva only had problems with her hat.
Jessie and I took all the kids out; the babies were in strollers. I'm sure they were wondering why we were going for a walk in the dark, that was a new experience. We gave them lollipops and treats to keep them occupied, but after about an hour they were overwhelmed by the cold and fatigue, and even the quest for treats was not enough to compensate.
Marc took the boys back out and I got Eva set up with her 3 B's: binkie, blankie, and Blue's Clues.
At that point she was so exhausted I just took off her dress and put her to bed in her black shirt and striped tights. It was a fun day, but I'm exhausted and ready to put Halloween to bed for another year. Click here to see all the photos.

Your kids all look so great Michelle! Funny that Max chose to be a monk at the last minute. He seems like such a unique kid.
Don't I know it! It seems that Halloween has such a long build up of anticipation, but then it's over and that's more than ok. I feel that way about all holidays that require a lot of preparation. I don't mind the fatigue they cause but then I'm happy to see them go far another year.
Your kids looked great--even Eva without her witch's hat. Max's monk costume is so funny! He comes up with the most arbitrary things! Makes for good blogging. I can't believe he can whistle two notes at once. Now, how does one find out about that little talent?
I'm kind of freaked out by how unattractive Max's monk-hair is. Yikes! I guess it's an effective costume because it looks nothing like him. You did a good job on his tunic.
Eva looks darling in her costume, and Lucas does too, those glasses completely change his face.
Very cute little witch! I am intrigued with the monk costume, where did you actually find one? And whistling two notes at once, that is very unique!
I ditto Hannah. Your kids all looked so cute and Lucas did look like Harry Potter!
What a cool idea to paint the pumpkin black. I may have to try that one. I too am ready to hang Halloween up for another year...bring on Thanksgiving!
I love their costumes, how unique for Max to want to be a monk, what a creative kid.
Jessie told me what a hard time Bella had, you guys are such troopers for staying out as long as you did. It's funny to see Bella bigger than Eva, both are so cute!
The comstumes look fantasitc. Love all your photos. I am with you...I too was ready to move on from Halloween. It's seems horrible to say, but really we've pretty much been celebrating since Sept.
It's so good to see Jessie again. I miss her blog.
OH michelle those pictures are adorable! now I can see what you meant by she doesn't want to keep her hat on...at least you hd those cute leggins...they are adorable....how fun! the boys look cool! Monk? funny it turned out really good! wow how exciting I better post my halloween pictures soon, it wouold be embarrasing waiting a couple of weeks!
What a fun Halloween! I love Max's costume--it's so funny! And that's definitely cool/weird about his whistling thing; Jessie told me about that on Sunday. That my friend is a real talent!
I love the monk costume! So original. I also love Harry Potter and the cutiepie witch. Very fun.
I thought Ava looks so cute in that dress and tell Max I thought his costume was awsome!!!!!
