the blahs

Max and Lucas both stayed home from school yesterday. I took Max back to the dentist in the morning to have his spacer installed. It was quick and easy and they sent us home with no warning that he was about to be in a lot of pain! Apparently it's not just a place-holder spacer, but some other kind that also shifts the teeth around and adjusts his bite into a more advantageous position. All of which means he was absolutely miserable and couldn't eat anything other than yogurt, pudding, applesauce, and a smoothie. I gave him some Advil and he was still on the verge of tears, so I called the office to find out if this was normal. Oh yes, completely normal to have pain and inability to eat much for a few days. Well, thanks for letting us know...

Lucas has a cold with a bad cough. He was a little bored after awhile and started looking in the top of their closet for something to do. When he found a dinosaur kit with molds and plaster (a long-forgotten birthday gift, I think) he was thrilled. And it kept him occupied for most of the afternoon, which thrilled me.

Eva took a rare 3-hour nap, and I was actually able to do some more organizing and cleaning in my scrap room! (Well, for 2 hours anyway, before piano lessons.) Sorry, still not ready to take photos.

Marc came home and he's sick too. He just went to bed, basically, and got up around 8:30 to go watch TV. By the time the kids were all in bed I went to bed myself. When my family is sick, I just feel drained. For some reason, I woke up at 10:00 and we watched Survivor. I cleaned the kitchen and went back to bed. Then, because I would hate to have to get up at 6:00 with Eva if I was sick, I took Marc's turn for him this morning.

Max said he had to go to school today (hooray!) and Lucas said he couldn't, even though he knows that he can't play with friends if he stays home sick and Landon usually comes over on Fridays. At the last minute, he decided he would go after all (double hooray!).

So why do I feel so very blah? I'm not sure, but I'm chalking it up to tiredness, PMS, and its accompanying surge in depression. Ah, hormones.

You just need to reread your own post to know why you've got the blahs. You've got a house full of sick, needy boys and that's a lot to take.

Thank heaven they went to school today, and halleluyah that Eva took a 3 hour nap! At least you got time in your scrap room. I'm going to have to check it out because I can't wait for the pictures.

What a reason to feel blah Michelle! So glad the boys went to school today and I hope Eva repeats the 3 hour nap, or at least takes a longer one. I can't wait to see what your busy self has been up to in your scrap room.

Family illnesses totally just SUCK. I too am feeling blah today. My body aches, my head hurts and I just want to lie in bed and not move. Fat chance of that EVER happening. Hope your kids feel better soon :) Happy craft Friday!!

Sick kids are the worst they're enough to make anyone feel blah.
With Lou's staph infection and Joshy's ears I understand how you feel. Finally Lou is starting to feel better and Josh is too. It was rough for a few week though when they were at their worse.
I hope your family gets well soon and that you and Eva doesn't get sick.
Have fun with Jill today.

The spacer thing is killing me- I can't believe they didn't warn you! Dentists suck! Add that to sick family and you have every right to feel blah!

I think you feel drained because you had to use so much of your amazing mom powers to take care of everyone along with doing some cleaning. I'm constantly amazed at what Mom's can do.

Also, I have a favor to ask, and if it doesn't work out, then don't worry about turning me down. But I was wondering if it would be possible for you to pick me up at the SLC airport and take me to the MTC on the 11th. I know this is furiously late notice, but if you could let me know ASAP-ish, I would appreciate it.

The blahs seem to be going around, it seems to be the common theme on many blogs.

I hope your family gets feeling better quickly!

That is one thing about fall and winter I don't love is the blahs I get. When we lived in Oregon I realized that I had serious weather depression. And the fact that costco had a whole shelf of the lamps that create the feeling of the sun to help ward off seasonal depression, not the state for me. The sun is gone from October to march and the rain, oh the rain.

I hope you had a better day of creating, and once those sickies are gone hopefully life will be a little more cheery.

Wow! What a day! So sorry to hear about all the sick kids and poor Max, it really stinks when your mouth hurts and you can't eat!! Hope everyone gets better soon! Glad you had a 3 hour break with your napper! I remember when my girls would take naps like that...but my little boy, forget it! He takes 1 1/2 hours if I'm lucky! Have a great weekend!

I hope that you still got to have your Creative Friday with Jill.

I'm sorry that your family has been sick. But, 2 hours in your craft room by yourself? Wow!!!

Boys/men just don't know how to be sick, do they? It is draining.

I have gotten so far behind in reading blogs but I am slowly but surely catching up.

I get the BLAHS sometimes too for no apparent reason.

I try to take time for myself though when I feel them coming on. Kinda to just rejuvinate my batteries.

Does Cold Stone help at all? I would be happy to treat you to a Cold Stone if it helps :)

Michelle, I'm behind, so I'm reading this a few days late-I hope you're doing better, that Eva didn't get sick and that you didn't either.
