great weekend

This weekend was delightfully free -- free of obligations and onerous chores. On Saturday we were lucky enough to go to Landon's baptism. It was great to be there for his big day. I always think it's so nice when only one child is getting baptized, so it can be all about him or her, and the parents can completely tailor the service to their liking. Landon got to have two sets of grandparents there, as well as an aunt, an uncle, cousins and friends. It was a wonderful baptism, even if I did start to play the wrong song for the opening! (Sometimes I can be a little too laid back....)

Jill had a little reception at her house afterwards, and it was so nice to just hang out with everyone, with a lot of good food, to boot! A very relaxing and pleasant afternoon. (We missed you, Amie!) Apparently this was the best photo we could get of Max, Lucas, and Landon. They wouldn't stand any closer together so that you can tell they like each other. Is this a boy thing?

When we got back home, Marc took Max to get some new shoes. Somehow his feet grew three sizes over the summer and he didn't have a single pair that fit. Now he wears a men's 7 and his feet are just slightly bigger than mine! Yikes. Shoe shopping just got a lot more expensive.

I went through Eva's room and took out all of the clothes she's outgrown and reorganized the closet. Why does it seem like this needs to be done every couple of months?? I sure do enjoy it when it's done, though. Eva found a pair of sunglasses that I bought her in the spring and wore them for the next hour or so.

Here's the one thing that wasn't delightful about the weekend: Marc and I watched The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio. Maybe I just didn't know anything about it, because I thought it was going to be light entertainment. Instead it was bleak and depressing. I couldn't go to sleep afterwards because I was so distraught about the conditions that women faced in the 50's. That wasn't even very long ago! It was almost worse for me that the main character (based on a real person, btw) had such a cheery, positive attitude when faced with the limitations of her life. I don't know why, but I wanted her to get angry. I was so angry for her. I certainly can't recommend this movie.

Yesterday we started our new church schedule: 1:30-4:30. I have been dreading the change so much, but it wasn't as dreadful as I had feared. I was a substitute in nursery and took Eva in with me. She loved it so much, she never wanted to leave! I only hope she still feels that way by the end of next month when it's time for her to stay there every week...

But you know the best part about this weekend? It's not over yet!

I tried to comment this morning, but blogger was being weird. FYI.

I'm so glad you didn't consider Landon's baptism as a hassle-filled obligation that wrecked your Saturday. It was so nice having your family there, and having you play the piano, thanks for doing that.

It does seem like you just barely cleaned out Eva's closet, but then again she is a munchkin doing a lot of growing and has a substantial wardrobe, so I guess it all adds up.

I'm so glad your first day of your new church schedule was enjoyable. I like how the whole morning feels very Sunday-like when we go to church later, it's also enjoyable that the day is almost over by the time you get home.

So glad to hear that you had a good weekend.

I think its crazy how often you have to clean a little ones wardrobe out. They seem to grow entirely too fast!

I am also glad to hear your new church schedule worked out. That is my least favorite time block.

I tried to comment on your blog the last couple of days but do to my terrible experience I couldn't. And now I just don't remember what I wrote. Hope you continue to have a great day!

First of all -- 1:30-4:30? Ouch!!! We just went from 2 1/2-3 hours, and that is killing me!

I need to clean out the kids' closets. It is always such an effort for me to get in there, but I'm always glad when I do and it looks so good. My problem is I never know if I should keep it for the next kid or give it away to DI.

Glad that you had a good weekend.

It was so good to see you Saturday. Had a great time just talking. It sounds like you guys are going to have a place in Paris.
