good mail

I got this card from Jessie today. She always thinks of things I would never come up with, so she is a constant inspiration to me. It also made me think of some thank you notes I need to send, so it was a good reminder as well. You know, gratitude is a wonderful thing: it lifts the person expressing gratitude as much as the recipient. If you haven't checked out Jill's Gratitude blog, you really should. Such a wonderful idea.

Here's some of the things I'm feeling grateful for today:
  • beautiful weather -- not too hot yet!
  • seeing Eva swing for the first time
  • clean, freshly-washed kids
  • a pot of soup on the stove
  • a new episode of Survivor
  • Elliott didn't get voted off of American Idol
  • I went grocery shopping today so we should be good to go for about a week
  • our new trampoline arrived and Marc started setting it up
  • got to spend some time with Jessie, Timm and Bella
  • I have a garbage can dedicated to all the yard waste I'm generating!
  • Jill is apparently still my friend even though I totally messed up her plans today
  • I get to see an old friend from college tomorrow
Even with the ups and downs of daily life (e.g., Lucas being constantly on the verge of an emotional breakdown for unknown reasons, Eva being awake for 4 hours in the night 3 nights in a row, Marc experiencing stressful work politics, Max trying to think of a new invention), life is good.

What a cool card, she definitely has a way with innovation and creativity.

I enjoyed reading your list of things you're grateful for, perhaps you should start a gratitude blog too. One you start writing things down, more come to mind, thus making you more grateful.

are you seeing jen?

i am wanting to do my own gratitude blog, but am fearful of the copy cat mentality that i struggle with.

I think everyone should do a gratitude blog (if they're so inclined). Do not fear copying, I don't think we'll be grateful for all the same things, hee.

I feel silly commenting on your blog... I'm Jessie's friend. I just wanted you to know that I really enjoy your blog. I started gratitude journals for my husband and my two kids, thanks to something we talked about in book club. It really helps me appreciate my family members.
