page 12 of {21} challenge

Wow. I didn't realize 6 days had passed since I last worked on my art journal until I opened it up. I've missed it. Marc went out to play video games with some friends and I got the kids in bed, watched a little tv, then got out my journal. I used some of the new American Craft rub-ons and a scrap of paper I had floating around. Can I just say how much I love lower case m's?? It might be a bit of an obsession... It was interesting to think about character. What is it? What defines it? First I listed some of my roles, but then I realized that they don't really define my character (except the first one). So then I made another list of character attributes I would like to have. It's good to have goals! I even got to use a quote that I love from my grandma - that's a happy thing.

some random tidbits from today:

- we had some friends over and Eva was in heaven playing with the big kids. At one point, they all went into a bedroom and closed the door so she wouldn't be able to get the little pieces of a game they were playing. She was not happy to be left out, so she went up to the door and started knocking on it with her binkie -- cracked me up.

- I was teaching piano and Eva was downstairs playing nearby. When the lesson was over, I was writing something in my student's notebook. I looked up and didn't see Eva anywhere. I checked the laundry room and my scrapbook room. Nope. She climbed all the way up the stairs lickety-split and was standing by the locked gate at the top. That got my heart racing! (too bad it doesn't count as exercise.)

- The boys went over to a friend's house this afternoon right before Eva took her nap. She slept for three hours, and even then only woke up because I sent Lucas in to make sure she was alright! Unprecedented.

- During her nap, I spent an hour spraying dandelions in the lawn and 45 minutes pruning my roses. Such a beautiful day outside. Much more to do, but it's so nice to see the progress.

- I played a game of Pokemon cards with Lucas at bedtime. There's a labor of love for you.

- I had some lovely solitude time today and I accomplished quite a few things. I played with my kids and made a good healthy dinner. That's the definition of a good day for me.

i can't believe eva is going up stairs! seriously if she was around Sally Jane you would be even more impressed with your daughters abilities. still doing the army crawl over here.

Excellent post all around. I love seeing your art journal creations, and I love this one. You definitely have got some skills. I really need to work on mine some more (both skills and art journal, ha). I miss doing that too, and think I'm missing the point of the challenge by letting time lapse in-between days, because the point of 21 days was that that's the amount of time to acquire a new habit right?

I also love reading the details of your day. I'm so psyched Eva took a 3 hour nap and that you were given a chunk of solitude since the boys went to play at their friends' house. That's bliss right there.

I love the art journal...yes again! Maybe you should sell copies of yours to the rest of us and we will just pretend. I would look at it more to admire your work, I would probably hide mine.

I love the posts on everyday life. I am always obsessed with what everyone else is doing...fun to read about your day.
