I went to the dentist on Monday and he said my gums could be in better shape. The problem is due to, you guessed it, my flossing difficulties. Mostly I just don't do it (oh the shame). The floss always gets stuck in between certain teeth, it's frustrating, I just hate doing it... Of course I've been told umpteen times that I need to floss. I've even made resolutions in years past to mend my errant flossing ways, but to no avail. But for some reason, this time I decided to do it. It may have something to do with the fact that the hygienist had me try their floss and it didn't get stuck in my mouth. (Is that all I needed? a brand change?!) I have now flossed four days in a row, including book club night, when I got home at 1:00 and was so tired. I'm kinda proud of myself! So now I'm just putting it out there for a little extra accountability.

I have this same dilemma! I hate flossing but the dentist assures me I will lose my teeth if I don't. I tend to spot floss. So, I'll follow your lead and see if I can do better. I just need to remind myself that I do NOT want a mouth like Queen Elizabeth had- torturous!!
I LOVE TO FLOSS!!! I floss everyday, sometimes twice. I think if you perservere, enjoyment- indeed maybe even dependence will follow. I even had to leave someone's house early once just to get home and floss! ;)I enjoy Glide. I have to have tape, not actual stringy floss. TAPE is the key.
I only floss the front four teeth on the top and the bottom--does that count? The back ones are too hard to do. What is the new "magical" brand of floss, perhaps I need that too. Also used floss in the trash seriously grosses me out.
I hate using floss that I have to hold in my fingers! It is too hard and cuts my finger. I came across this little tool that is much easier to use. It has a handle like a tooth brush, much easier to hold.....
We vote for the little flossing tools at our house as well. They are cheap and disposable and no yucky strings left on the counter! (Jimmy not me!) Although I don't use them as often as I should!
oh ya....and Jill how would you know what used dental floss in the garbage looks like? I have yet to see a single tissue land without you emptying!
Years ago my Dad's dentist told him that if her would commit to floss every day for a month, he would never stop becasue his mouth would feel like a dirty sock. He says it's true and he's not missed a day of flossing since then. Of course he is a man--and they're such creatures of habit, aren't they?
The good brand is Oral B Satin. I'm intrigued by the flossing tool, though...
