We used real china and had real scones. (In Utah, deep-fried squares of dough -- fry bread -- are called scones. Don't ask me why, because I have no earthly idea. Shortly after I first came to Utah, someone asked if I wanted to go out and get a scone. I accepted, and then was deeply perplexed when I was given a piece of fry bread at the restaurant.)
I made actual British scones of the orange poppy seed and apricot/white chocolate/walnut varieties with citrus curd and clotted cream on the side. We also had cucumber sandwiches, tea cakes, strawberries, croissants with chicken salad, butter mints, wassail, and lemonade.

This is just a shot of the food. We ended up having a separate serving table so we could have room for all of the place settings.
As we ate, we discussed books -- everyone brought a favorite to recommend. We had so much fun that three younger sisters of the girls were peeking out at us and decided to plan a tea party of their own.
We had 7 Laurels graduate last week! I am so sad to see them go.
