first day of summer!

Friday was the last day of school, and thus the first day of summer vacation. I have to say I was a bit verklempt when I realized that we will never again be part of this particular brand of kindergarten chaos and excitement.

Eva's teacher hugging her and her good friend, Riley.

Eva tells me that "Riley always understands." A very good quality in a friend.

Mrs. Graham was a great teacher for Eva this year. So good, in fact, that Eva is not so sure about moving on to first grade.

I find it so sad that Eva only got one year of school with her big brother. It must be so nice knowing you have a protector of sorts. Now none of my kids will be in the same school again.

I am having a hard time believing that I will have one in high school, one in junior high, and one in elementary school next year. (I have a friend who is just one year older than me, and her youngest just graduated! I have 12 more years of having kids in school...)

Thinking we should do something celebratory, I originally thought maybe we would go to Seven Peaks, but since it was only 64 degrees, I had to nix that idea (much to their distress). It took some serious convincing for them to accept that they wouldn't have much fun if they were shivering at the pool. (So instead, we went to 7Peaks today, and although it was supposed to be 84 degrees, they ended up cold and shivering at the pool. Huh.)

I'm not a fun mom, so I opted for Creative Friday with Jill. That way, Lucas could play with Landon and Eva could play with Whitney (Marc took Max to the movies).

Maybe next year I'll take a cue from Patsy and invite friends over for pizza, root beer, and chocolate cake. That sounds like a celebration I can handle.

I'm a little insulted that you don't think having Creative Friday counts as a fun activity! The kids had a good time and I thought it was a fun way to celebrate the last day of school.

We still have 3 weeks left of school! Darn snow days!

All 3 of my kids were in the same school this year. It was so convenient! Next year Lindsey will be in Middle School! In 3 years she'll be starting high school, and then all 3 of my kids will be in a different school. That will be crazy insane for sure!

Have a great summer! And enjoy your Creative Friday's!!

I've been having internet troubles too! so sad.

This crazy cool weather is great for the flooding situations- I hate heat- but somehow it has put a damper on the summer feel. Still, I'm trying to enjoy it since it won't last.

We (blogger moms) don't meet regularly in the summer- I miss them already. We are trying- it's such a blessing to have friends to be creative with & bounce off motherhood issues.

I can't believe how big Eva looks! She's grown up so much this year! There are 3 years between Evie and Stella, so I don't know how much they will be in the same school together.
and Stella hasn't even started, so I have YEARS left...I guess that's a good thing?

Still waiting for summer to begin. Have until the end of the month... sigh!

I feel your pain.. I have one in college, hs, middle and elem. It's bizzare! Glad that Eva had her brother for one year. That is a bonus!

Enjoy your summer!

Pizza, root beer, and chocolate cake sounds like just my kind of celebration!

Man, I would DIE for 65 degrees! We had over 100 degrees today and my store never got below 80 with three air conditioners going and about 6 fans. Ugh. Double ugh.

I would be thrilled to be a bit chilly, and that's saying a lot!
