momentous

On Saturday, I was able to join Charlotte, Denise, and Emily as Charlotte went in search of a wedding dress. Denise was planning to make a dress, so they were going to try on some different things to see what was flattering, what Charlotte liked most, etc.

(Eva came with us. When Marc asked her if she would want to go look at wedding dresses, she melted in a puddle on the floor. We took that as a yes.)

The salesgirl brought out several dresses for Charlotte to try.

Gee, do you think she liked this one? Her body language is cracking me up.

This one was a crowd favorite! (Charlotte's future mother-in-law and sisters-in-law were also in attendance.)

Oh, to have that waist...

She didn't even want to come out of the dressing room in this one, which we dubbed her Quinceanera dress.

I fell in love with the beautiful embroidery and details on this dress.

Check out that darling headband!

And this comb! I am completely besotted with it. I am determined to recreate it. (It was $90.)

After awhile, Eva couldn't stand it any longer and she had to join Charlotte up on the platforms. Charlotte was gracious about sharing her spotlight.

Emily helped her to try on a veil. (Emily is wearing another of Grandma's sweaters. They're killing me.)

Eva's modeling evolved into dinosaur songs and stories, acted out.

Love that inverted pleat!

I was shocked, but Charlotte found a dress that she loved, and she bought it. It all seemed so... easy! And fast. Nice.

The headband in olive! Have mercy.

another close-up for reference

Josh's family wanted to check out Tie One On, to see if there were any good orange ties. Although Eva and I didn't even cross the threshold of the store, she was offended by its very existence. I guess after the ultimate girl experience of hanging out in the bridal shop, it was just too much for her to handle. As we were leaving, she said, "Let's get out of this man market!"

We walked through Macy's to get to our car, and passed the strangest display: loud country music blaring, couples dancing, and employees wearing Western wear, all in the middle of a department store. Strange.

Also animals up for adoption. I don't know what that was about, but Eva was definitely smitten.

It was a fun day, and very cool to be a part of such a momentous occasion!

I had the same intention of my mom making my wedding dress, but we found one that was the perfect size with beading and cut-lace to was too perfect to pass up. Can't wait to see which one she chose!

Oh, so many things to say in regards to a bridal post!

That second photo...GRACE KELLY. Wow, what a gown.

I also love the dress where Emily is helping with the headband. That dress! Softness, femininity, grace, ruching! Oh my golly.

Please reveal! Which did she purchase?

"Man Market?" That Eva is hilarious! Eva-isms are just as funny as Jill-isms!

Smitten Kitten. Ha ha.

Okay, I hope Charlotte won't mind my revealing that it IS the one where Emily is helping with the veil!

Oh! Oh! Oh! What a fun day. What darling dresses. Did you feel like you were playing Barbies? Congrats to Charlotte. She's a beautiful bride-to-be. Can't wait to see you recreate the $90 flowers.

I'm so glad you and Eva could come, and I love the photo documentation! I'm also completely okay with revealing which dress I chose—I just won't let Josh read the post (he's really the one who doesn't want to see). While I had lots of fun trying on dresses and feeling pretty, I am glad that huge detail is taken care of!

It was such a fun day and I'm so happy that we could all take part in it! I love the dress Charlotte chose--it couldn't be more perfect for her. Thanks for all the photo documentation!

I'm very envious of your Women's Conference retreat. I haven't attended in years and look forward to a day when I can enjoy it again. Have a fantastic weekend at Jill's!

Eva. That girl just cracks me up!

i am sad that I couldn't be there for the occasion, but I am so glad that it went so well! It's surprising to me that such a myriad of dresses can be found in one shop. I LOVE the one she chose. It's perfect. The headbands and comb hurt me. 'Man Market' hurts me. It cracks me up that she is so girly- I guess she's packing all the girliness she can into one tiny body since she's your only girl.
I miss all you guys.
I am also jealous of the Women's Conference retreat. I only went the one year when it was you, me, mom, Denise and Grandma.
Anyone else missing her a lot, lately? {tears}

Seeing Eva up on the pedestal gave me a little heart pain. How weird to think that one day she'll be the one trying on dresses.

The dress Charlotte chose is so pretty! I love it!

What a bride she will be!

She looks like Jennifer Garner in 13 going on 30 in the quinceanera shot.
