12 on the 12th | April

1. I love doing monochromatic puzzles first thing in the morning...
2. Dropping Lucas off at school.
3. It doesn't look like April yet. Spring in Utah is highly unpredictable.
4. Reading Calpurnia Tate while doing my exercise bike. Loving it.
5. Sending good mail.
6. Peanut butter chocolate cake in the fridge.
7. A fancy cat that Eva drew for one of her cousins.
8. It was warm enough yesterday to go barefoot. (Today it's hailing.)
9. My grape hyacinths are finally in bloom! Such a happy sight.
10. Grocery shopping.
11. Strawberry/pecan/feta salad for dinner.
12. Knitting while watching Chuck and 24. A very good end to the day.

I used to think that grape hyacinths were weeds and I would, ahem, pull them out of people's yards when I went on walks through Provo.

To keep for myself, because I thought, 'Oh, what pretty little weeds! I'll take them and the homeowners will be so glad to have them gone!'

That cake is looking absolutely delightful. And knitting while watching new TV episodes is a very good end to any day.

Your pictures are all scrumptious but especially the one of the cake! What is the occasion? Celebrating Marc's success I'm thinking right?

love your pictures - and that cake! Makes me hungry.

What a lovely Monday. I think I'll pretend that mine was the same.

Grape Hyacinths will always remind me of my grandfather. I just adore them.

It sounds the crazy weather we had in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. 80 and warm enough to plant flowers- the next day we had snow of all things. Especially given that snow is fairly uncommon.

I'm in love with the color themed book you are making using Paris photos. Did you show it and I missed it?

I hate doing monochromatic puzzles any time of day.

I'm off to make a peanut butter chocolate cake I guess.

What a soothing post. I hope your day was as soothing as the post was.

I love how you're such a good cook. You don't save company meals for company.

Well, yes it was a very, very soothing post. And yes you are an incredible, incredible cook. So I guess it needed to be said twice :)

I wonder if the pace of your day is as relaxed as the post seems? I love that about you- that it is rare for you to seem rushed or frazzled.

Sure, the cake looks good. But the salad looks tasty too!!

I love it when the day ends well.

I'm with Miranda--never, at any time whatsoever, do I enjoy doing monochromatic puzzles--let alone first thing in the morning! I would, however, enjoy a slice of that cake at any time, in any place, and under any circumstances. And the salad, too, please.

Actually, I was being sarcastic about the puzzle. Although I do love puzzles most of the time.

Hee, I wondered about the monochromatic puzzle comment.

I'm so glad you all are enjoying that cake recipe. That picture makes me think I need to make one just because.

I am croaking over Rebekah's comment about pulling grape hyacinths out of people's yards. Oh my goodness! I think they smell so good. One of my favorites.

Will you please post the salad recipe? It sounds delightful. I'm sure that it's kind of a 'duh,' but some of us need more coaching when it comes to cooking. Thanks!

You always have such lovely photos--the hyacinths are gorgeous!

Every time I read your blog I get pushed one more tiny baby step closer to learning how to knit...someday I'll take the leap.
