Spark

On Friday night, Marc and I went to Spark, a relatively new restaurant in Provo, to celebrate my birthday. In short, it was amazing!

Dark charcoal walls. Great ambience. Great food. I'm just thrilled that there is a place like this in Provo!

For appetizers we got these fries with garlic aioli and blue cheese dipping sauce, and dueling edamame -- cold edamame with lemon and salt and warm edamame with bacon (the warm one won).

I had the special, which was this mahi mahi with pineapple salsa and coconut rice. When I tasted it, I actually had to close my eyes and moan a little bit, that's how good it was. (Marc had tuna with risotto that was delicious as well.)

Our waiter asked me midway through dinner if I liked chocolate (well, duh!). Apparently the chef wanted to make me a special dessert not on the menu. When he later brought out a molten chocolate cake with orange ice cream, I could not have been happier -- that's my favorite flavor combination ever, and it was fabulous. (I must have been really excited about it because I forgot to take a picture.)

I'm sure we'll be going to Spark again!

This all sounds appealing in a "Do you think there's anything on the menu I would eat?" kind of way. I'm glad it was such a great dinner for you!

When the title said "spark" and I saw the photo of you and Mark I thought you were referring to the spark between you.

What a nice birthday date. Warm edamame with bacon? I'm salivating!

The whole evening sounds delish.

I love the name Spark! Your evening sounded lovely! What a treat--

Wouldn't it be great to be a food critic and have the excuse to go out to eat and get that fabulous service all the time?! That's a dream job of mine!

I had no idea. I will have to google it... now I am trying to imagine which street it could be on... it definitely doesn't match Provo.
