five for Friday
1. Lucas has been building a lot of army guy forts lately. It totally cracked me up the way he managed to suspend these blocks between two cubes. Very inventive.
2. I taught Max how to cover composition books (he needed to decorate one for a class). It was his first time working with Mod Podge, and he's a natural.
3. Eva has rediscovered the joy of bubble baths. She spent a long time "taking a mermaid" the other day, just enjoying the bubbles.
4. Marc upgraded his camera! That means that I now have inherited his 30D and Max has inherited the 10D. Good fortune for us all.
Incidentally, we had a lot of cameras lined up on the counter and it prompted me to tally up the number of cameras in our household: 6!
5. Dum-dum-da-dum!!! Big news! After 18 months of being a work in progress (I'm not even kidding), our new bookshelf is finally finished and fully stocked with books! I've been having a devil of a time getting a decent photo of it due to its sliding glass doors and so many reflections. I finally gave up and am posting this anyway.
Well, Marc would tell you that it's not exactly finished, as evidenced by his "vitrine en cours" signs. It's a delightful work in progress and the whole family is enjoying its evolution! Welcome back, beloved books.

You didn't enable comments for the cello post?! It brought a tear to my eye. What a joy to share music with your son.
(I'm vicariously feeling a sense of accomplishment on those bookshelves. They are looking great.)
wow. a page out of a magazine, a really cool magazine that is.
so what do you do with all those little guys. i am always so torn to take down the hours of set up for our doll house but after a while i can't take it anymore.
that cute eva!
Nused camera for you--awesome! Have fun and I know you'll do beautiful things with it.
Your 18 month bookshelf project makes me feel not too bad about my 6 month cabinet painting project. It's one of my goals for the month. I have until next week. . .
Your bookshelf is so pleasing to look at! I just love the arrangement of books and everything. 18 months was well worth it!
Looks like you did a nice job combining objects of art and interest with your book collection!
Dad is a pro at taking photos of m store windows with reflection issues! Try it at night.
Nice!
I love how you arrange...whether it's books, your photos on the wall, even your creative Friday table is arranged. You have a knack for the aesthetically pleasing.
I love the creativity involved with Lucas' army men set up, it looks well planned and cool.
I didn't know about the joys of Mod Podge until I was in my 20s!
I love the term "taking a mermaid".
Your household has a lot of nice cameras floating around it, wow!
The bookshelves look great!!! I'm sorry the surprise was wrecked today by having to move Creative Friday to my house. That would have been a great surprise to see in person. It looks so cool in the picture (I like it that your reflection is in the glass) and I can't wait to see it in person. Hooray for a completed project! What's next?
yes welcome back! It looks soooooooooooo nice, good for you, I think it is darling. And oh my my my ...I wished I was at the end of inheriting something like a sweet camera. Wow...good for you...and max and everyone...those little soldiers Lucas was playing with.....are the same I used to play with my cousins....those and indians and cowboys...I played with those ones A TON....no wonder I am a tom boy of sorts.....
ohhhh and loved love the photo of EVA...there is nothing more cute than kids in baths...
what is mod podge...jill discovered it in her 20ties? where have I been?
How lovely! A home is not a home to me without stacks of books around. It just feels incomplete! I absolutely love your shelves.
Six cameras in one home is wonderful! Think of what you're leaving for posterity!
Your shelves look amazing- I can't wait to see them up close and personal! I will second Jane with your talent at placing items, I just don't got it.
a jam packed book shelf brings me such joy. i'm seeing lots of my own favorites in your stash!
I love to see kid's creative play.
Can you teach me how to use Mod Podge?
A bubble bath sounds good to me right now (a HOT bubble bath).
Oh to have even one decent camera!
And...I LOVE the bookshelf (aren't book shelves always works in progress anyway?).
So much happiness in one post!
Love Lucas' army men...I often find Lego creations or big box hideaways or Barbie/Batman set-ups but I haven't come across such an inventive army scene yet.
I have discovered Mod Podge but I have not conquered it so I am jealous of Max's immediate knack for using it!
I have a love affair with cameras...
Your bookshelf is the greatest joy of all...what is a house without hundreds of books crammed into it?
Cool to have somany cameras around and the army fort . . .so glad you took a pic to capture it!
I am in love with that bookshelf!! Not only do I love the actual piece of furniture, but the stacked and carefully placed books also fill my heart with glee!
"Taking a mermaid"--too cute.
Congrats on the book shelf, it looks great, and the camera. Everyone was a winner there.
I love that max wants to make composition books.
Congrats on the bookshelf! It's beautiful and the books are arranged so nicely.
I think it feels so cozy to be surrounded by books.
