milestones

On Friday, we took Eva to her first movie in the "movie vader," as she calls it. We waited until we were pretty sure she could sit through the whole thing, as we had a couple of not-s0-fun movie experiences when the boys were young.

We went to see Bolt, and she loved it!

As soon as the movie was over, she asked if we could watch another one. Success!

The pigeons were my favorite characters, which is surprising as I can't stand real pigeons. Maybe if they talked with accents I'd like them better.

And on Sunday, Eva went to Primary for the first time!

She is not the most tractable child, so I had my (secret) worries. After sacrament meeting, she sat down on the floor, refusing to walk, and said she wouldn't go. I carried her in and put her in her seat with the other Sunbeams on the front row.

Fortunately, her teachers are a delightful older couple -- Brother Hall was Max's 6th grade teacher and the best one he's ever had. All through Sunday school and Young Women's I wondered if someone would come looking for me, but no! They managed.

When I picked her up, they said she did beautifully well. I must have looked surprised, because they said, "We have the magic ingredient -- crackers!" Who knew?

And who knows, if I'm lucky, maybe she'll even walk to Primary next Sunday...

Woohoo for successful milestones! I'm so glad she made it through the whole movie without incident. I loved the pigeons in the movie too, they're hilarious. Just yesterday I was thinking "Whole wheat is NOT whole grain, don't bring me whole wheat."

I can't believe she's a Sunbeam already! She's even on the older end of the spectrum really with an April birthday. We have a couple who just turned 3 in December, and they didn't do so well on Sunday.

I love the family SPT. You all look so great. And I love hearing Eva stories. Davyn had his first primary experience this week, also. But it was unmonumental because it has seemed long overdue. He turns 4 on February 1.

Ooh..on the baked brie. I keep trying to figure out when I can make it again. It was amazing. You are definitely welcome to use any pictures of mine.

I absolutely can't wait until Alex is old enough to sit through a movie. We've taken him to a few, but by the end he's so antsy that it's just not fun for us, or for the person unfortunate enough to sit in front of us! We try every several months. This last attempt was more successful that than the first and second, but he's still a little too young. Congratulations on the good first experience with Eva!

Ah, Primary! Such a milestone. I can't believe she's old enough to go!

I am so pleased for you that things went well with Eva in Sunbeams! Jared did not go on Sunday as he has been sick, so I am sort of dreading next week. I am the new Primary chorister, so this should be doubly interesting with the mom factor involved.

I've found that as long as Jared has a bucket of popcorn he is almost always good for a whole movie.

Yes, that's a great achievement to be able to get your youngest to the cinema (or as Isla calls it, the 'cimena'). Erin's a good age to go now (6) but we still can't go as a family til Isla's reached that stage you've got to with Eva. Mind you, whenever we DO reach that stage of being able to sit them both in a dark room and have them sit still, and quiet, I'll probably FALL ASLEEP!

That'll be intersting seeing how Eva copes with Sunbeams each week. Erin's Junior Church group is called Stingrays. Isla's supposed to be in Little Fishes but she won't go in at all. It doesn't help that the staff are a bit wishy-washy about settling her and letting us go. It sounds like Eva's group really is run well :-)

It's a happy day indeed when your youngest child starts Primary successfully! I hope it's a trend that will last.

I love your family SP. We took one last night at the ice skating rink that I hope to post about soon. I sort of had to talk Mark and John into the idea--in a public place, and all.

I can't wait till we can go to the movies as a family and not have Ryan be an issue. I miss that.

I love magic teachers! Now if I could get magic Nursery leaders to keep Ryan in there!

Those are both great milestones! Keith asked the Primary President (our neighbor) how PQ did on Sunday, and she sweetly said, "Well, she was loud!" I don't know what to do about that, but I hope she will absorb some self-control or something.

I'm so behind on my commenting, but I just wanted to say how beautiful I think your new curtains are, how marvelous I think your Sneelock is, and how nice it is to have really good primary teachers.

Way to go Eva and Michelle!
Joshy went to Primary this week too. Its hard to believe they're old enough to go. It kind of feels nice to not have a kid in nursery.

Congrats to Eva...first day as a Sunbeam is quite the milestone.

Our family loved Bolt as well. The pigeons made me laugh out loud. I could watch a whole movie just about them.

Everett has been to more movies that I care to remember right now..but I do remember that during Bolt I looked at his face and it was COVERED in Junior Mints. Covered.

Beautiful family shot.

P.S. Can I tell you how much I love your new banner?
