Creative Friday

This was just one of those weeks where Creative Friday couldn't seem to come soon enough. I need it every week, but... sometimes even more so (do I say that every time?). It's like the reward for getting through the rest of my week -- piano lessons, the early morning school routine, YW activities, homework, housework, tantrums, fatigue, etc. On Friday, it's all worthwhile, because I know I get time for me. Time with Jill to re-connect, unload, laugh, nurture our friendship. And maybe even do something productive! When the kids are in school, it only ends up being 4 hours or so, but those hours (even though I'm not kid-free) are so restorative.

I am woefully behind on sending out my good mail birthday tags. I printed out a stack of them and cut, punched, hole-punched and strung them into sets. I thought I did so many, but it was only enough for 10 sets! So I'm still behind, but at least I have 10 fewer to do now...

Why is it so much more fun to work on creative pursuits with others? I know for me, I always have to ask Jill if what I'm making is cute. After I've been working with something for awhile, I lose all sense of perspective and I have to ask again, even though I know she is going to say, "Give yourself a smack!" (Would she ever tell me if indeed it wasn't cute? Probably not, but it's still reassuring.)

{the good mail queen was on a roll as usual!}

I was so excited to have peaches and cream for dessert. I absolutely love late-summer peaches, peeled, sliced and macerated in a little bit of sugar with a dollop of cream on top. Imagine my intense disappointment when the peaches were flavorless and even the texture was a little off! It was compounded by the fact that Jill had been looking forward to them as well, so I felt the disappointment even more keenly.

Would that every one of our self-portraits only included 15% of my face!

And now, to begin the long-distance run until next Friday...

I agree with Elizabeth...your tags are so cute. What a generous gift.

Jill has a most attractive thumb.

p.s. I'm not teasing about the thumb. Look at it. Don't you think it is attractive and the moon above her cuticle so healthy looking?

Nice self portrait. Next time we do a self-portrait can I be in it only 15%?

Those stacks of tags are a happy sight to see! You're on to something great with those.

I'm not keen on dominating our self-portrait, you should have posted the other version where only 15% of my face was showing.

I have an attractive thumb?? Who knew?

I love hearing about your productive and fun creative sessions with Jill. I'm part of a small scrapbooking group and we do a fairly good job of meeting every 4-6 weeks for a 6-8 hour session of cropping.

The sight of all those cute tags makes me happy, too!

Oh, oh, oh, my Utah peaches are coming in two weeks and I CANNOT wait! Peaches and cream for every meal for sure.

Those tall stacks of tags make me salivate! They are so so cute!

I don't think she would lead you astray and let you spend time and effort making some horrible macrame craft or something. She'd gently nudge you in the right direction. Friends give us a good smack when we need one, but they also let us know when we have lipstick on our teeth, right?

You, by the way, have nothing to fear, your stuff is cute cute cute!

Hi Michelle! I love reading your blog. I think I found your blog and Jill's blog through Kristi's blog---which I found through a friend. (Did you get all that?) Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy and relate to the things that you write. I love and appreciate your honesty. I love your tags too.

I'm in LOVE with the tags. I already posted on Jill's blog that I want to buy one of those delicious punches (where did you get it?). I've used mine a ton and actually have thought about conserving them a little.

I think it is funny that I do the same thing- I become so much more nervous about my crafts when I'm working with someone else.

I'm sorry about your peach issue. Produce is ridiculous sometimes.
